The Wildlife Institute of India, located in Dehradun, is a dream place for the wildlife lovers. The lush green campus and the people of the WII will make you feel serenity. It is an autonomous body under the government of India.
Course Curriculum Overview
The basic syllabus concepts like diversity, conservation, legislations, prevention of illegal acts, sanctuaries, wildlife parks are covered. The new updated topics are the environmental impact assessment (EIA), the tools and procedures in EIA, analysis, methods, laws, etc. This wide and deep curriculum can be found only in WII.
Placement Experience
The placements are given for the students and also to those who do PG in environmental science outside WII. This is provided by the environmental impact assessment cell (EIA) of the institute. They help to do a number of project works. Both the Indian as well as foreign students utilize this opportunity.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees for the M.Sc., Wildlife Science is worth paying. It is calculated separately for the Indian and foreign students. For us, it will be around ?.5,33,000 approximately. For SAARC Nationals, it is US $ 13,200 and for other Nationals, it is US $ 14,400.
Fees and Financial Aid
The institute offers scholarship to the students of each batch. The first eight top ranked Indian students are selected and they are provided with a stipend of ?.3,000/- per month. Other than this, they will be having scholarship in academic fees and hostel fees.
Campus Life
There are small recreational sports facilities for the students to spend some quality time. There are various seminars, invited talks, guest lectures, workshops, hands on training,etc always happening in the campus.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is maintained well and good. The rooms are furnished with all the needed stuffs and the mess food is really good. There are 84 single accommodation and 40 double accommodation rooms. There is a Wi-Fi at the hostel campus.
Alumni/Alumna
There is a cell to track the records of the passed out alumni students. They keep updated about their present works and projects. They always stay connected with the institute. Every alumni is registered with the institute.
Admission
The admission process is not an easy task. This is because they filter the best out of the best for the M.Sc., Wildlife Science. First you should apply through the notification at the WII website. You need to clear NET exam also. So apply for both the admission and NET. Then after clearing NET, you have to crack PAT test. The other requisite is that a minimum of 50% marks in UG life science degree. The final score is based on the UG merit cum NET for 70% and PAT for 30%.
Faculty
Our institute has most sought after professionals in wildlife studies as the faculties. If the process of admission itself is a big task, then think of the grading in scrutinising faculties. All the faculties are very unique in their way of teaching and in their specialization. Its only because of their thirst of learning new things.
