Remarks

My life at IIT Palakkad has given me the 4 years of my life. With the active student clubs, knowledgeable faculty, great infrastructure and facilities and friendly atmosphere, my experience has been top notch.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum was long and hectic which is why it is very important to schedule your day. Doing so makes it much easier and relaxing and you can actually get some time to enjoy college life. Despite the hard times, it has certainly been a rewarding experience for me. IIT Palakkad follows a grading policy based completely on continuous assessment. The classes weren't strictly theoretical. There were frequent industrial visits for practical knowledge.

Placement Experience

4

I was among the first graduates of this college and the placements were really good. Most of the students were placed by big companies with great pay. HSBC, Arista Networks, Fourkites, Tata, Titan are few of the industries that visited the college. Internships are also provided by the college and the students can get a stipend upto Rs. 20,000. We can start to take internships by the end of the second year. Internships are really helpful and teach you a lot about the industry that colleges cannot.

College Events

4

The most celebrated event that all the students look forward to is the techno-cultural festival called Petrichor. It is highly stimulating and students get to exhibit their talent. Many students from the whole country comes together for this event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I paid a total amount of Rs. 8.34 Lakhs for 8 semesters which I think was absolutely worth it. Although the amount varies for students from SC/ST/OBC. Considering the overall experience, the fee is justifiable. The fee is paid per semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

Students can avail to many scholarships depending on their financial situation and academic abilities. There's MCM Scholarship for students whose parental income is less than 4.5L p.a.. The scholarship covers the tuition fees and gives an allowance of Rs. 1000 to the student. Most of the students study with the help of student loans. There are special arrangements made by the college at SBI and Canara Bank. Students can also apply for Vidya Lakshmi educational loan scheme.

Campus Life

3.5

Another exciting thing about IIT Palakkad is its clubs. There are many clubs like Photography Club, Design Club, Robotics Club, Music Club etc. This allows one to pursue their other interests along with academics. All the students and faculty members are friendly. The college doesn't tolerate any sort of discrimination or biased behavior with the student.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I opted for the college hostel. Hostel life has been a great experience for me. I had one roommate and there's bathroom in every room. The hostel provides many facilities like gym, washing machine on each floor, grand dining hall etc. Every room comes with basic furniture for both students. Also, every student gets allocated a room in the hostel therefore you don't have to worry about getting the slots filled. The hostel is conveniently close to the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network isn't well established given there's only one batch of graduates till date. The Alumni Association was inaugurated just in the previous year when I graduated. It will take time to grow.

Admission

I made up my mind to go for civil engineering during my 11th grade. To get into IIT was my goal. After 12th grade, I applied for the JEE Main Exam. My next step was to make it into the merit list of JEE Advanced. Following that, there was a 7 round JoSSA Counselling in which all the candidates participated in. At the end of the round, the college which was allotted to me was announced.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of the college is very helpful and supporting. They have helped me throughout my journey at IIT. Most of the faculty members are IIT graduates. Therefore, I received quality education and lectures were always lively and interesting.

Campus placements are highly volatile taking the stats from over the past three years there has been an up trend as well a down trend, I hope I will get placed through on campus interviews, the highest package of this year was for two graduates who got into IBM with 22 lakhs per aanum, there are few who didn't get into any of the companies while there were others who got int Amazon and other reputated companies, if I do not get into a reputed company through my college on campus placements the. Course Curriculum Overview:

It's always relevant to the content being taught by the teachers. They always use application based questions to prepare us for a real life situation as well. First aid training was also completed. Some of the teachers are very interactive while some not. Short exams are conducted on a weekly basis while internal exams are conducted every 2/3 months. Not that difficult but it isn't that easy either. Very strict checking, nothing is liberal.
