Remarks

Studying here was a great opportunity in the field of Medicine. I did my MBBS here and I had great opportunities after the completion of my MBBS degree. We had a lot of fun with the campus extracurriculars and it is a wonderful college!

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is excellent. Christian Medical College of Ludhiana is not only a teaching school but it is also a hospital. This means that all students receive a lot of practical experience and exposure, which is very important for the field of medicine. There is an exam for each year at the end.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements are decent with the university as it is a reputable hospital itself. They also provide a compulsory internship for at least one year that offers a stipend of 7500 rupees. This may not seem very high, but job opportunities are great after graduation.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible compared to the fees of other medical colleges and universities. A diploma course is under 1 lakh rupees but the MBBS course costs Rs. 6.6 lakhs per annum. Other courses and fees range from 2 lakhs to 6.5 lakhs.

Campus Life

4

Christian Medical School (CMC) is a Christian college. They often have musicals and choirs which can sometimes be based on Disney movies! They also have regular sports meets as well. Plus, there are guest lecturers and medical camps that happen often.

Admission

The admission process is based on the requirement of students opting for the BPC course in +2. And they have to get at least 50% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Then an entrance exam will be conducted by the university and they select students based on merit.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is experienced and talented. They place a lot of importance upon practical knowledge rather than theoretical knowledge which is really beneficial for us students. The practical knowledge usually includes clinical trainings and sessions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum needs to focus on what you can do with information rather than the information itself. I wouldn’t eliminate content, without background we cannot form good, rational, and educated conclusions. We are still giving timed tests in math facts! I know that’s traditional, but it just isn’t as important. My era had no calculators and we needed to be proficient at paper and pencil solutions, but now, perfect calculations are available to everyone. We should focus on what kinds of problems can be solved with mathematics. Spelling is equally less important. Vocabulary should be stressed. My sister years ago was taking a test for a personal assistant position where she was asked to type a large number of words per minute error free. She was laughing at such a test. She said no one does that anymore, they just type then run spell check. Technology is changing our NEEDS opinion is that curriculum should reflect our reality. No one gets paid to solve problems that have already been solved. Students should be exposed to solving problems they have not seen before but that can be solve with the content they have learned in class. This will help them develop problem solving strategies they will be able to use the rest of their lives
