Remarks

MATS University is centrally located in the city of Raipur. It has two branches that are, one at Kharora and one at Pandri. The studies are good overall with the teachers giving good inputs in each and every subject. The Pandri campus can shift to a more proper location. Aarang campus is good but really far. The Pandri campus is currently undergoing an interior renovation. The subjects are good in English. The teachers are nice. They help whenever the students have any doubts. Topics are covered nicely. And teachers focus on a single topic for 3-4 days so that the students get a better understanding of it. They even have distance learning programs. Overall, it is a good college.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

I am currently doing MA English from MATS University, Pandri, Raipur. I am in my second year of MA. I did my BA from this institute only. I chose to do English because I love English and am an avid reader of novels. So, I thought that the course will enhance me even further and will help me to achieve my goals. The ratio is good in BA and MA. The faculty is highly qualified and very competent in explaining their subjects. The classes are interesting. Students really get a chance to express themselves creatively. The teaching methods used are also good. We have interactive sessions with people from all walks of life. Exams are very timely. Midterm and end terms happen at different times for each semester. For odd semesters, the mid sems are in September and term-end exams are in December whereas, in even semesters, the mid sems take place in March and term-end exams are held in the month of May.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement opportunities are good in MATS. Students get easily placed with good salaries right from the start. Students must prepare themselves thoroughly when appearing for these interviews. They must always be alert when the notification regarding placement is put up by the cell. Usually, the teachers are helpful and let the students know about these opportunities beforehand. In BA, a compulsory internship is there, but it's mostly for the media side. Students have to work for a month with no pay in any newspaper offices situated in the city of Raipur. My plan after getting my degree is to do an MBA although I am an Arts student.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees are very affordable at MATS. The UG fees have been hiked from the previous year but the PG fees remain the same. The cost of the study is very affordable. Scholarships are given to deserving students. I got 20% off on my fees when I took admission in BA at the university because I had scored 80% in my 12th boards. There is a placement cell in the campus which helps deserving students to get through interviews with various companies. Some of my seniors have been placed at various good news channels because of the placement cell. The cell releases regular notices regarding interviews.

Campus Life

3.5

The annual function of MATS University is named MATSOTSAV. It happens every year in the months of January or February. It is a very good function where all the departments of the university participate wholeheartedly and have a lot of fun. A tech fest is also conducted in the university by the students of the IT department. Each department of the university keeps at least one fest of its own. The library is okayish, not very good. Books are usually not available. We have to buy them on our own. Very limited number of books are available for the English department. The rest of the departments have ample material for study purposes. Classroom amenities are good; they are centrally air-conditioned, there are black as well as whiteboards which are used by the teachers. Sports and extracurricular activities take place in the Aarang campus. The annual function takes place there only. We had an English club for a very brief period of time named The University Wits.
