2 memorable years of my life

Mine 2 years at this campus were the most memorable experience of my life. Had satisfaction both on career and personal development.

XAT, 95 percentile in 2009. I hadn't applied to many colleges. This particular college was famous for its Finance faculties, and had the lowest fee, which i was eligible for, at that point of time.

Many Finance companies, marketing and IT companies came for Internship but stipend was not substantial to mention except for one or two cases. Mine was with SBI mutual fund though i also had an offer from a marketing firm.

Placement is being 100 % throughout all batches. Companies like, Nomura, Bank of America, all IT companies, few marketing companies and few other finance companies come for campus placement. The average Package on offer has been increasing year over year. During 2011 , the average package was 6.75 lakhs, which has now increased to 8 lacs.

IFMR has a national Festival Abhudaya, which is both cultural, technical and Management attracting students from almost all top management institutes across India. Apart from this, they have many social, cultural and other management events which happens throughout the year. All the festivals are celebrated in the campus with numerous DJ nights. The freshers and farewell parties are worth to attend. They also have an annual alumni meet.

The fee structure during my tenure was just 6 lakhs for 2 years and around 1.5 lakhs for hostel and mess. All the books, notebooks are provided by the college. They also give u a very good laptop and a nice pair of corporate formals.

They do have scholarship facility for toppers and loan facility is available from all nationalised banks.

Gender ratio is 70:30 (M:F). hostel is fun to live in. We used to have a coed hostel. During my tenure, we had a small but a beautiful campus in the heart of the chennai which happened to be the posh area of chennai. Also Loyala colege(LIBA) was less than a KM away from pour campus. Now they have a new campus in outskirts of chennai with state of the art facility.

It has a strong alumni network with alumnis working in almost all industries at very good positions. The placement cell is in continuous touch with the alumni network for placement assistance to current students.

The exam structure was very flexible, depending upon the professors for different subjects. It had no fixed pattern. We used to have open book, open laptop, no books no laptop, library access types, only one case study based, only presentation based and many other type of formats.

IFMR had one of the highest paid faculties with a blend strong academic backgrounds and industrial experience. They were also involved in the various research projects in collaboration with Harvard university.
