Remarks

WIT has a good reputation for the Mechanical Engineering course. The staff here is highly experienced and helpful. The placement records are good when compared to other private institutes. They have 51% reserved seats for Jain minority students.

Course Curriculum Overview

I have a passion for Mechanical Engineering. WIT has experienced staff with actual industry experience. The exams were of moderate difficulty level.

WIT has an active T & P cell, which works tremendously to bring companies for campus placements. Based on the recruiter's criteria, students from 3rd year are allowed to take appear for campus interviews. On average, companies offer a 3-5 lac/annum package. Over 50% of students get placed from the on-campus placement program.

Fees and Financial Aid

I paid fees for 79000/year. By the time I graduated in 2015, the fees had risen to 10,6000/ year. The govt. has a scholarship scheme for minority class, which is to be applied through college. The scholarship at the time was 25000/year. WIT has an active T&P cell. I got placed in Infosys through campus placement.

Campus Life

The college conducts an annual fest and sports week at the start of the year. I believe WIT has one of the best libraries in the university. Classroom had all the modern teaching aids. WIT collaborates with various Engineering clubs.

Hostel Facilities

WIT had a okish hostel facility, given the amount they charged it was reasonable. I have heard post-2015 they have introduced AC rooms. The mess facilities were reasonable too and had provided good food.

Placement Experience:

From 7th Sem, students are eligible for placements and undergo placement training. Many companies has visited so far but the big ones are Godrej, BEL, Framatome, etc. The highest package for mechanical was 7.5 LPA and the avg package was around 5 LPA with a majority of job roles as GET. Almost 95% students are placed. I'm preparing for GATE ME for higher studies

SIT is best engineering college of Pune!!

Placement Experience:

If one wants direct placements in comapnies such as Wipro, Cognizant, Hexaware, TCS and many more, SIT is the place. Highest is still unbeatable as one student in 2023 got a paycheck of 50 lakhs per annum from SIT. Even the average is over 10 lakhs now as most students are placed through SIT placements cell.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is also good and it is explained in detail on the college's website and there are labs for the courses which made learning fast and easy. Relevance(industry alignment)->8/10 The curriculum is designed to keep up with the industry needs especially in fast growing fields like computer science, management, design and pharmacy. Updated course such as AI, machine learning, cybersecurity, data science and 3D printing are included for tech students. Industry exposure depends on the students initiative it's not equally strong in every department. Comprehensiveness-> 7.5/10 First year courses focus on building strong basics in science, mathematics and communication skills. Later semesters introduce specialisation, electives, research projectsand soft skill training. The curriculum also includes personality development, entrepreneurship and innovation modules. A few departments could integrate new technologies fatser into the syllabus.
