Remarks
The admission to Jabalpur Engineering College is through JEE-Mains. The admission process starts when the JEE mains results are announced. Then you can fill the counseling of MP technical colleges, based on your preferences and rank you get the admission. The better of studying in a prestigious government college is that people simply recognize it just by the name, just being one of the oldest engineering college in central India (started in 1947) is quite famous among the circuit. The better part is that many alumni are at a very good stage and help you achieve things and get jobs or start your startup. The co-founder of HCL is from our college, the CEO of bramhos is from our college, and many more. There are several reasons I selected this college over others, the main ones being it's a good college provides quality education helps in other studies apart from the curriculum, like CAT or UPSC or MPPSC, and the fee structure is only 25000 per annum. The college building is not so great.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose Electrical Engineering because I saw its demand in the coming years. Everything is not turning its head towards electricity, we are considering it as our primary fuel. Thus the industries would require more Electrical Engineer. We have a single class of about 60 students and a single subject is taken by a single faculty which are considering to be top-notch in their fields. The professors are highly qualified and most of them have a Ph.D in their respective fields. Some of them are so good that they are invited to interview panels of Psc exams and IES. They exams are almost organised on time and most of the time the syllabus is completed. The exams are not very tough to clear unless you have studied for them. The not so good part is that you'll be given less marks, because copy-checking is tough and is done by the senior faculties themselves. And they don't like giving too much marks.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, the college has its TPO that helps us to get internships and training in different companies. I have had two internships and one training during my course. Training in Indian Railways and one internship in Doosan power and others in THDC. I was paid some amount of work I did..I won't disclose the amount. Most probably if things go good I'll be given a placement offer from the Doosan powers just because of my internship performance. These internships are really helpful.
Placement Experience
The campus placements for my college is average. Students from 7 semesters are eligible for campus placements. Many companies have visited the campus last year this year the placements are slow because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The notable companies that visited the campus are HCL, Reliance, TCS, Wipro, Ultratech, ACC, Accenture, L&T, etc. The highest package offered last year was around 30LPA and the average package was around 5-6 LPA. The percentage for students in IT and CSE have around 100% placement. (students who want placement). For the rest of the branches, it's 30%-70%. After completing my graduation I'll pursue my post-graduation from some University majoring in Finances.
Fees and Financial Aid
The best past of JEC is its fee structure. The annual fee structure of Bachelor of Technology is 25000/- per annum for a general category student irrespective of the branch. The hostel fee is 2700/- for the first year is and 1800/- for the subsequent years. Each hostel has 2 mess that cooks good quality vegetarian food. The fee structure for SC/ST category student is less than the general category. Students are even provided with scholarships. The SC/ST students are even eligible for cash scholarship and they are even provided with all stationery products. If we talk about fees hike I'm not sure when it happened the last time. We don't even have any idea when it's going to happen but I guess not anytime soon. For the students who have genuine financial problems, the college helps them with this. Sometimes the college even arranges internships through which the students can get some amount to manage things.
Campus Life
The annual techno-cultural festival of Jabalpur Engineering College is called "AUREOLE". It is usually organized in the month of March. It is the best days of college life, not the fest but its preparation period. More festivals are organized throughout the academic year. The library is very good and has books from all genres the academic books are available and have many copies of the same book available. The college library has subscribed to many technical and social magazines we can get all the relevant stuff there. There is a library that's only for the students of SC/ST category no general students are allowed there, this is to ensure that they get all the books required. The classrooms have smart setups and air conditioning and nice furniture. Classes have stairs the professors stand on a stage with a podium. There are many groups and societies in the college that help to develop skills.. societies like debate society, nukkad society, dance society, Raag society, etc.
Hostel Facilities
During the first year, 2 students are accommodated in a room but during the subsequent years, the student gets a single room. The room has all the average facilities you can think of in any hostel room. The room has a Fan, tube light, two nice chairs, two tables, two beds, and two cupboards. One 16A socket and 6A socket that can run any average appliances that a student can need. Each hostel has 2 messes that provide only Veg meals they are very hygiene and good in taste. Each day you get rice pulses vegetables salad and roti twice a day. The weekly off of the mess is on Sunday evening. At the lunch of each Sunday, you get special meals. These special meals are finalized by students residing in that particular hostel. The weekday's meals of the mess are even decided by the students of that hostel. There are separate boys and girls hostels, no students are allowed to visit the girls' hostel. The registration process of hostel is easy, students can collect the hostel form from the administration block.
