Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course work didn't help me building concepts of subject. It's the Mtech project that helped me to build concept. Exam structure was based on relative marking. In 3rd year industrial visits organized by college for the students that too for ug students only.

Placement Experience

2.5

Larsen and turbo, Adobe, Capgemini visited at my time. Procedure for recruitment is written exam and then interview. About 40% students placed every year. Institute don't take My special effort to prepare students for the placement.

College Events

4

Events were planned big on their grounds and it's biannual. Every semester includes sports and cultural events. One time neha kakkar, badshah came for the event. For the junior senior interaction departmental quiz and casual games are organized. For those who don't participate in cultural and sports, academics quiz are also there.

Fee Structure And Facilities

My program fee was 40000 and payment accepted by the college was both online and offline. No additional fees were paid to secure admission. College do provide transperancy in the fee as at the end of semester we get back our remaining money of mess which is supposed to be deducted in case of holidays or electricity bill.

Fees and Financial Aid

M. Tech students got the MHRD scholarship 12400 every month for two years. Apart from this, UG students have different scholarship based on merit, parents income, based on other categories.

Campus Life

1.5

I really enjoyed my college life in point of view of friends, academics, sports. Gender ratio was ok. In odd semester almost every weekend has some cultural events. Although the management says that no difference is made between boys and girls rules, but girls had the hostel time in at 9:00 pm every night and boys can roam freely around all night. Also once there was a notice regarding the dress code for girls specially for DJ night.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

I opted for hostel. As there was only one hostel for girls for both btech and Mtech, 6 girls shared one room with 3 bunk beds. But the facilities like geyser, kettle, washing machine were there. And every day and night a female sweeper clean the whole hostel including washroom.

Alumni/Alumna

As we were the first batch in PG so no senior interaction. But juniors were very much interactive. As we were the super seniors in our college, juniors asked us the favour about studies, carrier, what to do after the college.

Admission

Admission criteria for PG admission in NIT UTTARAKHAND is through GATE. CCMT conducts counseling after the gate result and according to score card one get admission in their stream. After graduation in engineering one may wonder what to do next as there are many options in engineering like one can wish to join PSU, can do master and may wish to join engineering services conducted by UPSC. But you should do Mtech only when u really want to do it.

Faculty

4.5

In a week every subject has 3 classes of 1 hour each. Almost the faculty of Civil engineering is very young and either all of them have done PhD or Pershing it. Only 2 or 3 faculty has the clarity about subject. None of the lectures hold any relevent industry experience or certification.

The placements are very good. Being an old IIT many good companies arrive on campus in the final year of your undergrad and post grad. The placement cell is very active throughout the year and provide help and support to any person seeking it. The career development cell is another good initiative to help student in pursuing their goals.

Indian Institute of Remote Sensing - [IIRS], M.Tech In Remote Sensing & GIS (with Specialization in Water Resources)
Reviewed on Jun 8, 2021(Enrolled 2018)

Remarks:

For the higher studies in Remote Sensing & GIS, IIRS (ISRO) is the best institute in India. The personal preference would be Masters over the Diploma course since the Masters programme includes a 14 month project towards the end of the course, in which the researcher gets to work under the guidance of experienced scientists from ISRO. A drawback of the course would be that the syllabus is demanding and the exams are tightly scheduled.

Remarks:

As my previous experience was in Bridge Engineering , so on the basis of that IIT ROORKEE is best among others ,as it offers a course named as Masters in Structural Engineering with diversification in Bridge Engineering , which makes to choose this Institute specifically over others.Admission took place though multiple doors :- First is through GATE Score without any GD or PI or both Second one is through Sponsored Category like of mine Third one is through Quality Improvement Programme (QIP) For more information on admission you may refer to IIT ROORKEE PG Admission latest Information Brochure.I think it is not a Bad aspect of institute , but Institute must do certain reforms in it's admission process as till now IITR took admission directly on the basis of GATE SCORE for M.Tech / MURP courses which , but I will suggest that in future IIT ROORKEE must took admission for the same programme through GATE Score as well as GD or PI or Both , result of which it increase the opportunities of many relatively lower GATE scores candidates to took dream of doing their Masters from reputed IIT ROORKEE For Dates Tentatively application started from the month of April every year Last date to submit the application - last of April Results announced through COAP portal ( you need to separately register yourself on COAP portal to participate in the counselling process of all IIT's) in multiple rounds along with some Additional round & spot round I don't search or see any forum or websites or blog while selecting this college because in my previous company I made many visits to IIT ROORKEE by which I came to know many more about it automatically .
