Remarks

I will give overall rating 6/10. Due to old infrastructure, some classrooms are not well but college is improving quality day by day. In practical labs, most of the equipments are not working, but they are changing those equipments, but for our batch its worst experience.

Course Curriculum Overview

2

Course Curriculum is a very old style, only concentrated on theory lectures, very less practical knowledge. Even in practicals, they give write-ups of 4-6 pages to write and assignments of about 25-30 pages, which has no use in actual industry. Nowadays industries demanding directly hands-on experienced candidates, but in our college, there is no such specific experience is given.

Placement Experience

1

Konkan gyanpeeth college doesn't have a good record for placements. Only 1 or 2 companies visit us every year, which is very small scale local companies. Placement for mechanical Branch is worst, Core technical job placements are zero. For the mechanical and production engineering departments with a batch of around 160 and 60 seats, it is very hard to get placements. Students in these sections get recruited in sales and marketing jobs, IT and data science jobs and hardly a few, i. e. less than 5 students get jobs from campus. Students have to have contacts outside to get a job.

College Events

2

Only 2 events held by college every year, one in the odd semester (cultural event) and one in even semester (Technical event). Because of long travel, I rarely attend any of these events, Plus events are not that exciting to me, level of organization is poor, so I prefer to stay home. Maybe this is because I come from slightly upper-class junior college (K. J. Somaiya College, Vidhyavihar), I enjoyed all 10 to 12 events till night in my junior college. But I don't feel any interest in events held in KGCE, it feels like regular campus hangout nothing more. KGCE events also run till night but because of the travel issue, very few students stay till the end of the day.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There is no any fee structure in college, you have to pay the full fee at once per year. In extreme conditions, you can write a letter to the principal for splitting down the fees, though the principal only allows you to split fees only in 2 half. But total fees are feasible as compared to other colleges under Mumbai University.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I didn't opt for any scholarship or educational loan. But I never heard of any scholarships are given by college from their side, But EBC students can apply for EBC scholarship provided by the government of Maharashtra.

Campus Life

2

Again this review may differ from others, because of my junior college experience. First this we hardly get a chance to discover campus because of 75% attendance criteria. Very small campus, You can say college building itself a campus. Only 1 canteen is available, which to feel like a hostel mess because of only limited food items. If you are coming from a background of 3-4 in-campus canteen with overseas food items like Chinese food, burgers, and pizzas then this college canteen is not for you. About gender ratio is about 50:50 overall, but it varies in the course of study, in Mechanical branch Female : Male ratio is 15:85. Very less diversity Maximum of students is from Maharashtra.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network and senior students are greatly helpful, I didn't even feel they are my seniors. They treat us as friends more than juniors. Always guides us whenever we stuck in any situation. Since we need to travel around 2.5 hours to reach college. Seniors in the train are always helpful in train shutdown on rainy days, we always stay together and find solutions.

Admission

After 12th I gave a centralized entrance exam JEE conducted by the central board of India, according to marks in JEE and state board state government released a merit list of students. Using the reference of this merit list DTE gov portal allotted seat for me in this college. Admission process is simple but I have to wait in long queue, Office staff is poor. But during admission they asked me to submit my all original documents to them for 4 years, and they will not return it to me on any circumstances. I don't like this, it's like they are making some kind of bond or contract with us. 1 week later I got allotment in better college and I wanted original documents for verification but this college refuses to give them back.

Faculty

2

Even though college is focused on theory-based education, faculty was so good. Helpful in every manner, educational qualification of some professors is very good. Some professors are very good at teaching and in doubt solving. But I want to mention that many good and over favorite sirs started resigning their job in our last years.
