The First Year College Experience

Having a Podarite tag has a special corner in each one's heart. Once a Podarite, always a Podarite. You can take a Podarite out of Podar but u can never take Podar out of a Podarite. Podar is in itself a different life, culture and happiness in each Podarite's life.

I had appeared for my 12th standard HSC board exams. I secured 75% in it. I wanted to pursue BMS and hence I took admission in RA.Podar as it is one of the finest commerce college in our country.

Bachelor in Management Studies as a course is brilliant. It basically makes a person a Jack of all trades as it covers all the aspects of the commerce industry. It is different from other courses like BAF or BMM as these courses focus only on one aspect ie. Accounts and finance and advertising and journalism respectively. If anyone is planning to pursue MBA,post graduation should definitely opt for BMS as it covers almost 75% of MBA syllabus.

I haven't applied for any internships yet but students of RA.Podar have got many internship opportunities. The stipend for part time internships is anywhere from 6k-12k per month.

The placement cell of our college makes sure that almost everyone gets placed in a good company with good package by the end of our third and final year.Last year the highest salary package offered to a freshly graduated BMS student was for 5.7 lakhs per annum by zomato.

The fee structure is not all that expensive.It was 18000/- for first year which is pretty nominal for the BMS course. It might increase a little every year.

Scholarships are available for Students in fyjc. Students who belong to the obc,sc,st category but have secured 75% in their 10th board examinations are eligible for scholarship. Children of ex-servicemen are also eligible for scholarship. I'm not aware about the scholarships given to the degree college students.

If you're a podarite then you'll always have something to do. There's something for everyone. There are many college clubs and everyone is free to take part in any club. We have photography club,hikers club, literary clubs and many more. If you're a sports lover then Podar is for you. Our cricket and basketball team's are very well known as we have won many tournaments.Podar is situated is the prime location and there are many food joints in the locality which serve mouthwatering food. It will easily take more than a month to visit all these food joints.

There is no hostel facility. However,there are many hostel's around the college so accommodation shouldn't be an issue. The college canteen is pretty small and hence we podarites don't usually eat there. However our canteen is pretty cheap and serves really good Frankies and Chinese food.

The exam structure is pretty chilled out and surely won't stress you out. The entire course is split in 6 semester's(2 semester's each year). In each semester we have internals (projects-20 marks) and our semester exams -80 marks.

The faculty of our college is really good. The teachers are helpful and very knowledgeable.Various methods of teaching are used rather than sticking to the same old traditional methods of teaching. Most of the chapters are explained to us with help of power point presentations. The teachers are very friendly and have even given us their personal mobile no.s so that we can contact them if we need any help with our studies.
