- Alumni Network is amazing. It is widely speard and very strong in the industry. It develops trust and involvement of WWI students and helps to coordinate and collaborate with the industry on ground. It also allows to find new opportunities.
Dislikes
- No hostel facilities, accommodation is a bit difficult but there are people on campus who can help you figure it out
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is very interactive and on ground. A lot of courses is pratical subject. 70% is practical and out of classroom which makes it fun! Radio, Art, Films,Documentary, TV Production, Podcast, are few to name. Each projects requires students to come up with original ideas and execute them. Students are graded on their final products.
Internships Opportunities
There are many opportunities offered across the industry including media houses like Boathouse media, Social Panga, Kulfi collective. Advertising Agencies like Ogilvy, DDB Mudra, JIO Creative Labs Stipend depends on company and your skills.
Placement Experience
WWI has a Placement Cells that keeps a track on opportunities for students. There is a mandatory internship that students need to complete after completion of sem 4 before sem 5 is commenced. Students can also get internships in the winter break during sem5. There are various live projects that students can work on depending on their interests and experience during the academic year. Final Placement opportunities are posted to students during sem 6 where students need to list themselves and let the cell know about their interests and priorities.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees in divided into semesters. You pay as you proceed to next semester. Incase you fail your semester, you'll have to pay fees of that semester again. Basic fees is 2,00,000 initially [during admission it includes 50,000 as security deposit] Sem 2 fees is 1,50,000 Sem 3 fees is 2,00,000 Sem 4 fees is 1,50,000 Sem 5 fees is 1,50,000 Sem 6 fees is 1,50,000 Scholarship is awarded on Merit based during 2nd year. You need to maintain your attendence over 80% in each subject and a strong academic record. Being a part of college activities and events or representing college on larger playforms also helps to score. About 50% off on sem 4 to sem 6 fees is awarded. No other payments are requested/required unless an official email is floated by the college admin. If the student damages any property or equipment they will have to bear the charges.
Campus Life
WWI hosts Amazing Events like Inbox, WWCL and Celebrate Cinema. There are multiple student run clubs on campus. There are student run blogs, editorial and podcast as well. WWI has one of the best film libraries on campus.
Admission
WWI gives a degree in Media and Communication which is rare in India. You get a TISS degree which is great especially if you plan to study abroad. It is a perfect blend of practical and theory knowledge. It prepares you for real world and challenges you to become a better version of yourself. There are multiple projects that make you aware of your skills. WWI has great networks in the industry which makes it a hub of creativity. Industry experts often come to conferences, talks,panels to interact with students. Admission Process is simple, you need to fill forms, give a test, and an interview. If you pass all the stages you'll be welcomed to the WWI family. Eligibility Criteria: 10+2 in any discipline from a recognized education board.
Faculty
Faculty is very approachable and friendly. They guide you through projects and course. They are always available for students and find best opportunities for students. They all are people who work in the industry or have worked with hige networks. This makes them credible. Teaching methods are mostly practical and on groud. There are projects that challege your brains! TISS affiliated courses. They have exams at the end of semester. There are also electives available.
Interview Experience
Written Test is mostly media related questions. General Knowledge, English, Logical Reasoning, Basic Math, Current Affairs and Film Media. MCQ based questions. Interviews are taken by faculty members who mostly score you on your approach, skills, confidence, communication skills and knowledge. It is a easy going process if you are passionate about your interests.
Night Life
There is gym,pool table, cafeteria on campus that students enjoy. There is no hostel. Krishna's is famously known for its strong coffees and cheese chili sandwich (Life saver for students) College canteen has a lunch and snacks menu. Very good quality and hygienic food is provided. You will find a lot of students hanging out at the basketball court and Janta store.
