Remarks
The college has been going through transformation as far as the faculty goes. The one's with the college from the beginning are now old and slowly retiring. The college has found it challenging to replace them with good quality full time faculties.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is decided by the Mumbai University and to be frank it is a bit broad, so a few subjects become irrelevant. A few subjects which I was interested in were taught well. We used to do research driven projects for better understanding of theoretical concepts. Most of the students are placed on-campus, in their preferred roles. We didn't have any industrial visits for our department (Finance).
Placement Experience
The placement is average. The major companies that come on campus are Citi Corp, CRISIL, Care, ICRA, SMERA (Now Acuite), HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, CBRE, Gravitas, etc. Almost 90% of the students are placed on-campus. The institution takes all the relevant steps including arranging frequent sessions with alumni, arranging for mock interviews, informative sessions with industry experts, etc.
College Events
There are various cultural programs across the year, including dance competitions, sports competitions, skits. A few are intra-college where 90% of the students in college participate. The Cricket League, which is an inter-college competition, witnesses participation by 15-20 colleges across the state.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The total fee for the program over the course of 2 years was approximately Rs. 6,00,000/-. The mode of payment is demand draft. There are no additional fees charged by the college to secure admission. The college provides a clear breakdown of the fee structure. The fee is revised on a time to time basis at the discretion of the management.
Fees and Financial Aid
No. There was no scholarship offered by the college. Although, the state offers a scholarship based on the status of the family.
Campus Life
We had almost equal number of boys and girls. In a batch of 60 students, we had approximately 25 girls. There are various extra curricular activities going on throughout the year, including various inter department indoor and outdoor sport activities, cultural activities for 1st year students, etc.
Hostel Facilities
There aren't any hostel facilities provided by the college. The students are expected to find their own accommodation in the nearby locality. There are various groups on Facebook where one can get in touch with the senior batch and they can help them out with Broker's contact. The average rent for a 2 BHK would be around Rs. 18,000/-.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is strong, spread across renowned institutions in the industry. The college tries to reach them frequently to arrange for interactive sessions with the students.
Admission
I wanted to do an MBA in Finance and N. L. Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research (NLDIMSR) had a strong history of providing expertise in the domain of Finance. The admission process was conducted online. We were supposed to fill out all the details of the exam conducted (CET - Common Entrance Test ) along with the list of preferred college. We were assigned a seat on the basis of scores in the exam and our choice of the college.
Faculty
We had approximately 8 subjects per semester. The quality of the faculty was average (opposed to expectation), a few stood out, but a few were just not upto the mark. The one's that stood out were because they gave relevant information which we could use in our carriers ahead, the one's that failed were the one's that just stuck to the book and hence became too theoretical with very less practical knowledge.
