Remarks

A wonderful college with excellent academic standing.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Curriculum is fine and as per the MCI guidelines. However there used to some issues regarding the teaching methodology as most of the classes, especially those taken by juniors, used to be quite boring. There used to be very little emphasis on research and that's is something that one definitely realizes in future.

Placement Experience

5

There used to be no concept of campus placement. And I guess it is not done in any medical college. Actually the field of medical science has a different system of recruitment and as such there seems to be no scope of campus placement.

College Events

3.5

The first thing that used to be experienced would be fresher's day. Apart from that there used to be annual day celebrations every year. The students would spend months preparing for the said programs and ther used to be a vibrant participation. Occasionally there would be conferences, workshops and scientific events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college, fees used to be very modest. Don't remember exactly but the entire course fees used to be somewhere around ten thousand rupees. The mode of payment used to be cash against a receipt during those days. There is absolute transparency in the fee charged. No hidden charges were there.

Fees and Financial Aid

There used to be somewhat lesser fees for reserved categories but no scholarships used to be offered to the students.

Campus Life

5

There used to be equal intake of boys and girls. Apart from majority of the local students, there used to be few people from Jammu and Ladakh. The interaction between various students of different areas, from different religious, economic and educational background used to be very cordial and friendly. Don't remember even a single incident of conflict between people on such issues. Very occasionally student picnics used to be there and the a couple of out of station tours.

Hostel Facilities

4

I had not opted for hostel as I used to reside in the same city. Hostel was situated some three kilometers from the college campus. Hostel rooms used to be somewhat okay but the big turn off used to be common washroom. But the good thing is ample space for games.

Alumni/Alumna

There are alumni groups for some batches but its not an organized platform. Most of the alumni find it difficult to connect with one another in absence of a broad platform and have to resort to small social media groups.

Admission

After qualifying CET, opted for this college since it has a history of producing some of the bright names in medicine in this part of the world. Following the counselling, a selection letter was issued. The process of admission was relatively simple at the college and involved submission of all the qualification certificates and selection letter in original.

Faculty

4

There are fourteen departments involved in the entire course. Each department would be headed by a professor, with average age of more then 55 years. Some departments but not most, would have additional professor(s) with almost similar average age. Further in heirarchy used to be associate professors, average age of more than 50 years, and assistant professors with average age of 45 years. The most junior faculty member used to be the lecturer with average age of around 40 years. There used to be really good teachers but at times even experienced ones used to be ordinary.
