Life at Somaiya

Teaching Faculty for Technical Streams like Bsc Computer Science and IT is not up to the mark. The teaching skill of these teachers are not interactive and leads to boring of such good industry demanded subjects.

Course curriculum is same as per Mumbai university. But belonging from a technical background the course teaching is not so technical. They focus on Attendance rather than doing industry teaching. There are Practical labs which has enough space for 2 batches to occupy each with total count of 120. Practical approach was not there through out the journey till now.

Placement & Internship is provided and taken care by PLACEMENT CELL of SK SOMAIYA COLLEGE "SK PLACEMENT CELL". They have a website www.skplacementcell.in. Every year there is a PLACEMENT drive conducted at SK SOMAIYA COLLEGE called as CAREER FEST. Students have to register themselves on the website mentioned above and thus they will get a unique code. There are companies uploaded in the companies tab where students can view the Job Description and thus apply for the

UTKARSH is the cultural event of SK Somaiya college. Another big event is CAREER FEST which is a Recruitment drive for campus placement open for all over Mumbai colleges. Every department has their own event like IT and CS department has TechXposure, BMS department has Zenith. Apart from this the whole Somaiya campus has many more events and festivals. The biggest event in Somaiya campus is from Engeneering college

Fee structure is feasible not expensive. If one has a genuine money problem and if they try to talk to principal then there is a possibility that fees can be transferred to emi. For every single Rupee paid we get a receipt which can be seen on the online student portal of our college.

No I have not opted for any Scholarship. But yes every year there comes some Scholarship where if you are selected then your 1 year fee will be reduced or will be waived off depending upon your score.

Somaiya has a huge campus all together. It has 1 big Amphitheatre. 1 Big Auditorium. Apart from that every college in Somaiya campus has their own auditorium. There are many workshops which are conducted throughout the campus such as robotics, drone, BigData, Excel basics,etc. There is a special committee called as Riddl which usually looks after such aspiring students who want to do something new as a stratup. Riddl do aslo provide internships. Riddl is mainly supported by Engeneering college. There is a huge playground which includes Running track, football, voley ball court. Campus also has a gymkhana. There are many activity related to sports which has sponsored cricket matches, football matches, indoor games, and many more that to all within the campus.

No I have not opted for Hostel. But yes there is a Hostel facility at Somaiya campus. There are two Hostel Buildings. One for Boys and one for girls. Hostel also have MESS which includes food and beverages throughout their tenure but which is charged separately from Hostel fees.

Alumini connection of the college is very supportive. Also the alumini collect help the current batches by providing the reference of all the companies they have worked in

So after my 12th, I applied online on Mumbai University college and then waited for the list. So in total there are 3 merit list which usually Mumbai university puts on. Then I filled the online form and form fee on Somaiya portal. Then the first merit list was there on somewhere in the month of May. Then college started in the month of June

But yes there are many courses after college which one can enroll and learn the practical approach. Being Somaiya a brand many companies approach college for such after college courses which also provides certificate in association with the college. In a day usually 8 lectures happen out of which 3 are practical and rest are theory. For saying Faculties do old many industry certification but are not good at teaching and thus sharing their knowledge to the youth.
