Remarks

The years I had in that college is considered my best days and I am very grateful for that. The college is the best in the district, as it is one among the 3 colleges to be selected as the best colleges in India. It has the best resources and the it support us to secure a great career.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The college is under University of Kerala and it follows a semester-wise curriculum with 6 semesters(3 years) for graduates and 4 semesters(2 years) for post-graduates. Our college has 11 undergraduate programs and 5 postgraduate programs, and both follows the same curriculum. The exams are conducted by the end of each semesters. Since the college follows this curriculum, the students would not feel it hectic and always prepared. By the end of the penultimate year of graduation, our college would be visited by different companies for recruiting their potential employees. Each year 200+ students get placed to a company according to their expertise. As our college provides other extra curricular activities and training, it makes us prepared for the industrial exposure.

Placement Experience

4

As I mentioned above, it is mostly during the end of our 4th semester. The placement drive would last for almost 2 months and the college faculty would help us in these. Most of the recruitment occurs in the college itself while for other companies we might have to go to a different location. The recruitment mainly consists of a written test followed by an interview. One week before this commences, our college provides specific training and coaching for getting the students prepared for facing the interview and the test. Almost 40% of the students get placed every year and the placement cell help others with their resources, and most students recruited are from the Department of Commerce. Some of the recruiters include wipro, Infosys, Federal Bank, South Indian Bank etc.

College Events

5

1. Vidyutra(Management Fest) This is an annual program organised by the students and faculty of Commerce Department. This usually consists of Inter-collegiate competitions, seminars and classes 2.Agni( technical Fest) An annual celebration organised by the departments of Mathematics and Physics in the memory of the missile man of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam on his birthday. On this various inter-collegiate and inter-department competitions are conducted along with a class by any reputed speaker. 3.College Youth Festival Cultural competitions organised by the college management which usually lasts for 3 days. 4.Festival celebrations(Onam, Christmas) There would be inter-department competitions and other cultural programs.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college fee structure is very feasible which ranges from 3000 to 4000 per semester. Along with that, there are scholarships and bursaries provide for students from financial unstable families and students possessing notable academic excellence. There are also scholarships and fee waivers for the students from reserved category and minority communities.

Fees and Financial Aid

I had a scholarship as I belong to a minority community and possesses the required academics. I had to register it during admission at the college offline at the office. There were 2-3 forms and the procedures were simple and hassle-free. I just had to ask about the scholarship at the counter and they were very helpful in availing me the scholarship.

Campus Life

4

My campus spread across almost 4 acres with surprising infrastructure and facilities. The college might seems small from the outside but we will realize it is well-equipped if we care to take a tour. The college is so scenic and environment friendly with all its trees, plants and garden. The college has a gender ratio of 3:2 where girls take the majority. The college stands leading in the terms of academics and extracurricular activities as well. We have an NSS unit, NCC unit and the college provides training for different sports and games. The college's softball team has been champions simultaneously for 3 years and we have our achievements in other sports too. The college has state and national sports champions. The college has well-equipped labs for research purposes for Physics, Chemistry and Biotechnology. Our college has also been hosting many national seminars, other national level competitions for Judo, Wrestling, and debates.

Hostel Facilities

3

As I live near to the college, I didn't had to opt for hostel. But, hostels are available for both men and women, one room is shared by two students there. The hostel is very close to the college and there are two wardens each for both hostels. Even though it is the case, I wouldn't recommend the men's hostel are it is not secured. For boys, others PG option is available with affordable fees and adequate facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of our college is very active as it conducts several programs annually and funds different events. The alumni association provides fund for the infrastructure development and scholarships for students.

Admission

I got admission in this college through Community Quota. As the college is under the CSI management and there wasn't much applicants for my course, I easily got admission there. When I thought of graduation, there were several suggestions from my friends and relatives on which course I should and where should I pursue it. Bishop Moore College was suggested by some of them and even though it wasn't much of an option for me, I choose it anyway. I still remember the day of my admission. I came to the college thinking that these procedures would take the whole day and I will get bored. But, to my surprise, the staff were very efficient and friendly and I spent hardly 2 hours for the formalities. The college was full of surprises, besides having a comparatively less area, the infrastructure of the college was mind blowing with 6 blocks of building, an auditorium, a gymnasium, a library, and a canteen. It also has a sports area with different courts for basketball, badminton, volleyball, softball and football. Last year, the college was selected as one of the best 100 colleges in India and it has a NAAC accreditation of B++. Recently, it was ranked 76th among all colleges in India by NIRF, 2020, MHRD. My choice about my core subject was purely out of interest and I am delighted and contented it. Mathematics has been my favorite subject since the time I could remember and the knowledge I acquired from my college is considered invaluable, the personal values as well.

Faculty

4.5

Our college has 70+ faculties from different sections of the society. The college always tries to keep diversity even in selecting a faculty member as we have professors of age 26 and 56 as well. The average age of our teachers is 45 and the average qualification would be a post-graduation in their subject of expertise with a good NET score. My departments holds 5 permanent positions with one post saved for temporary lecturers. And with much delight, I would affirm that they are the best teachers I could have for my graduation as 2 of them own their PhD and all of them are always there to help with our studies. They guide us right and it was more felt during our last year's projects where we had to work hard on it, but without our mentor's support nothing would have been possible.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.
