Remarks

If you are planning to send your kid to CGC, and if he/she is a dedicated person, I am sure he will get placed through the campus with the decent package in an MNC.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Since I am a working professional in leading MNC in India, I was able to make it because of the curriculum taught to me in college. Basic knowledge and understanding are given by the professors, rest the student has to do himself. The student has to do hard work in order to complete this tough degree in engineering.

Placement Experience

4.5

There is a proper placement program in CGC. Although they charge for placements which I think they shouldn't but still they give a decent number of opportunities to the students. Mass recruiters like Wipro, Infosys etc visit CGC almost every year and take around 250-300 students. And once a student is placed in a company, he/she is not eligible for next placement drives.

College Events

3

The cultural fest is held in CGC with the name Parivartan. Famous celebrities like Diljeet Dosanjh visit on the 3rd day of the fest to perform. Many competitions are held during these fests be it technical or be it non-technical and students are awarded certificates who win them.

Fee Structure And Facilities

College fees are decent when compared to other private engineering colleges in India but its hostel fees are quite expensive when compared to facilities given in the hostel. Hostel food is not up to the mark and rooms doesn't have attached toilets so they shouldn't charge hostel fees like 5 stars hotels.

Fees and Financial Aid

I didn't opt for scholarships or loans. Scholarships are given to students who achieve the highest marks all over Punjab Technical University.

Campus Life

5

The campus is beautifully built and maintained and it is one of the best colleges in Punjab in terms of campus outlook. The gender ratio is normal like for every 10 males, there are 6 females which is average for an engineering college. Sports like cricket, football, basketball were also there for students fun time.

Hostel Facilities

2

Yes, I was living in a hostel. There are 3 types of hostels available to students. They are 3 seaters, 4 seaters and 2 seaters. 2 seaters being the most expensive one. Hostel rooms don't have attached toilets and food is also not up to the mark.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is pretty strong. I am still in touch with professors via WhatsApp group of my whole batch. Whenever it is possible, CGC organises alumni meet in different parts of India to reach out to alumni working in different states of India.

Admission

I gave the AIEEE exam which is an all India exam for engineering students. I got a decent rank all round India, so I got admission in CGC via online counselling. Since my elder sister was also pass out and placed through the same campus, so i was aware of the placement record which is really good.

Faculty

4

Almost all professors were highly qualified and experienced in all departments. Their methods of teaching were also good that is why we could score good marks in university exams and get placements. If required, teachers also gave extra hours to the students who are unable to study with the whole class.

The management could be improved. The frequency of exams help us learn well and difficulty is between easy to medium.

Placement Experience:

The student become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. The companies visited per year are approximately 200. They claim 100% placements but in reality they divide students into placement and non- placement batches called tpp and ntpp. If you slip up even once, you will be debarred from the tpp group. The highest package is 53 LPA. The average package is 4.5 LPA. Companies like JP Morgan, TCS, Capgemini, PlaySimple, Cognizant, Nokia, Philips, Morgan Stanley, PWC, KPMG, EPAM, Watchguard, High radius, OYO, Coding Ninjas, Samsung, etc have already came. More companies are yet to come. Since the student intake is too much, placements are really hard to get since there is too much competition. In the end, people get hired in mass recruitment companies and get minimum pay of 3-4 lpa. My plans are apply for off-campus jobs and start working in corporate after the degree. If I don't get a job, I haven't decided what I will do next.
