The Golden Days of College

The college was an institution by itself. It was definitely good. Any such educational society is a boon to mankind. It can be in no ways bad as it always imparts good and quality education. There is always something to learn

There was no entrance exam. I completed my HSC and scored good percentage. Then through centralized admission rules, I got admission

The course curriculum was spread across 8 semesters. With 1st year as full year pattern. Major electives were Advanced Computing, Microprocessors, Software Engineering, B.E.E. Mechanical, Maths 1-5 etc.

My course did not have any internship. I cleared my college and had to look out for job on my own. There were campus interviews but that did not interest me.

The placement and job opportunities were not much as there as this slowdown that had come due to the ecommerce burst. We had to really struggle hard to get a job.

Annual functions every year. Sports activities during the end of the year. College festivals during end of Rainy season. Then there were award gatherings etc.

That time it seemed to a bit expensive. The fee structure was divided as free seat and payment seat. That was the 1st year of such a fee structure. The free seat was a nice one with very less fees, but the payment seat was almost 10 times more than the free seat.

Never really had a chance to think of such a thing. Parents were capable to manage my fees. So never had a chance to opt for loan or any other facility from college.

College life was fantastic. It was more of a learning experience. Along with studies, there were friends who more like a family and who made life simple and worth living. At times, during the exams it became too stressful. Parents and friends used to motivate a lot and make me relax. Truly College life was best. Wish i could live it again.

I never took the hostel facilities. The college was close to my residence. I commuted daily to college. The college did not have hostel. Students coming from other states used to usually rent out a place and stay there.

I have been in touch with few friends but not in touch with alumni network. That time these social activities were not much in use. We never had facebook or twitter at that time.

The exam structure was semester pattern. 1st year was full term with 8 papers and then from second year, it was semester pattern. Each semester had around 6 subjects.

The faculties were good and had come from various different states. Initially they took time to settle down, but once settled they were able to impart proper training.
