Remarks

College management needs to improve a lot. People dealing with the official work really need to work and have an interaction with the respective department regarding various important topics, like class timings, result notices, admission notice etc.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Extensive syllabus is covered. Professors personally assist a lot in gaining study material and explaining study topics. Although syllabus is huge you will get ample time to cover it before the exams. It has become semester based now. So be prepared for a lot of internals and assignments. The curriculum and exam structute are fairly research driven and is fashioned to impart industry specific knowledge to students. However no industrial visits are organized for the students.

Placement Experience

2.5

Only one company has offered placement in this year, CTS. I had to appear for an online aptitude test, which I qualified and then went for the interview. From my department out of 30 candidates, 6 were selected to go to the interview, and from them 3 of us were offered the job. The placement drive is low in my institution. But I hope they try to make if regular. Students had to prepare on their own for placement season.

College Events

0.5

The annual function and college reunion are the only occasions that are celebrated in a grand way. Many participate in these. However many seminars and workshops are also organized that give an insight into life after college. Freshers and farewell are also organized.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is extremely feasible. The fees for my program is Rs. 12000 per annum. Cash payments are accepted only. Other than the admission fee of Rs. 3000 approximately no additional fee is needed to be paid to secure admission. The college does provide transperancy in fees breakdown. They provide a receipt for the same after acceptance of fees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college did offer scholarships for underprivileged students. Students with a family income of less than 1 lakh per annum, is provided a scholarship of Rs. 1000 to help them to buy the necessary books.

Campus Life

3.5

This is a girls college. The extra curricular activities however is not that great compared to other colleges. The only student parties we ever had was that of Freshers and Farewell. Fests do not happen every year in our college. There are no cultural societies for the students. Although there is tolerance towards students of all ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status. A lot of workshops are arranged for students to better their understanding and develop insights on important matters. Students of all religions, casts, class, sexual orientation are treated the same.

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors and alumni members are all very helpful. If you ask for help, they generally try to help as much as they can. There is no existence of ragging on our premises. My seniors have indeed helped me by giving me study materials and general advice on the workings of the department. They have also helped me make important decisions regarding post graduation.

Admission

The entire admission procedure is online. Within a few weeks of the publication of results of 12th board exam, application forms are published. You will have to furnish your details complete with the marks that you have received. There is a certain cutoff that varies from year to year and is different for general or SC, ST, OBC. If you meet the cutoff criteria, you will be given a date when you have to be present with your documents. The admission to the first list will have people with higher ranks, according to their marks ( for eg. 1-40). After students of first list are admitted, this process will continue till students of 3rd or 4th list are admitted. The reason I had chosen this course rather subject, Sociology is because, there are better scope for future prospects in this subject rather than a mainstream subject like English. Also the subject is very promising and interesting. The reason I chose this institution is because, it is one of the oldest and most reputed institution in my State. Also regular and extensive classes are held, which many other colleges can't do. There is a great emphasis on academics.

Faculty

2.5

There are 4 lecturers in my course. The average age is 50 and 2 of them hold a PhD degree. Although two of them make it very lucid and easy to understand, I do find it difficult to follow the lectures of the other two professors. Although their study material is self explanatory and easy to understand. They are majorly experienced and highly qualified.

Who gets admitted in which course is completely a personal matter. No matter which course one gets admitted in, studies are good in all the courses. There are many experienced teachers in this college. Exam time is 3 hours. Teachers always help students in their studies.

I want to know bengali literature and all type of poems and proses that's why I choose B.a. in bengali literature. According to me, my course helps me in doing Masters in Bengali. From the point of view of improvements, I feel that digital classes can be conducted in the class by leaving the theory classes. Mere collage The exam level is basically hard and exams are conducted twice a year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I have always wanted to persue English as a career. I love studying English but not a big fan of the new curriculum by NEP that includes a lot pf irrelevant papers. The semesters are not consistent. Odd semesters usually have a lot of time like 6-8 months but even semesters barely consist of 2-3 months.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We were held a class for upto 1hrs, thus we had 4 class a day. Sometimes it is boaring sometimes it becomes striking, it depends on the mood. It is to say little knowledge is a dangerous thing, if you don't read you cannot pass the semester examination. Although it will provide you a second chance. But with change of syllabus the exam pattern also change. You need to attain a total percentage of 75(%) to maintain you honours subject otherwise you would be regarded as programme course student.
