Remarks

Best option out of available option, I wanted to pursue chemistry and doing it from bits allowed me to pursue a dual degree. Therefore I would have engineering(branch dependent on first year CGPA) and Msc chemistry degrees.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course syllabus is kinda outdated. Academic rigour is strong due to continuous evaluation. We have recorded video lectures and 0% attendance so you have flexibility to choose which classes to attend. Mathematics, electronics and biology faculty is very good.

Placement Experience

4.5

IT companies are hiring heavily. Most computer science and electrical students get placed, however other branches are not getting very good placements. Alumni network and startup culture of bits is very strong, and they are very helpful in interview prep, job search or masters Application prep.

College Events

2.5

Oasis is the second largest cultural festival in India and is definitely a class apart. We also have BITS open sports meet and Apogee our technical fest. Both receive large sponsorships from various companies and lots of colleges travel from across the country to participate.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is Merit cum need scholarship available for students whose family income is lesser than 10 LPA. Aditya Birla scholarship is also another opportunity for those who have scored well in BITSAT or are KVPY scholars.

Campus Life

4

Sports facilities are good. Badminton courts are not sufficient for campus size. We have LAN in first year hostels which is very fast. Library is world class. Labs are very old and not great. BITS WIFI is present throughout the campus. New Academic block is very good.

Hostel Facilities

4

2 people share a room in first year. You get a table, chair, bed frame(you need to buy a mattress) and an iron cupboard. Washrooms are okay, no showers. Hot water is available. Coolers are placed every 6-7 rooms apart with chilled water. No PG facility available.

Placement Experience:

For Master's students, they can start appearing for placement as soon as starting their 2nd Semester. There are lots of opportunities for students to grab a good placement. The average package for Master's can be 6-8LPA while the highest placement last year was 54LPA

Course Curriculum Overview:

- The course curriculum was specifically based on giving more knowledge and insights about the course I chose. I went onto specialization and chose microbiology and learnt that it has various other fields because of the curriculum. - The course and lab prepares well for the real-world applications. - There should have been more hands-on experience with some lab equipments and some teachers should have given more guidance to the students. - Frequency of exams and difficulty level was good. No complaints about that.

Placement Experience:

The campus placement commity is good, there is a dedicated department for campus placement for students depending upon the course you chose if you take Btech, Mtech or MCA its good but if you take M.Sc you have to struggle for placement and even if you get placement you hace to struggle with the package.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is updated and is on par with central universities. The curriculum is relevant if you want to make your career in research. More distinct and relevant additional electives could be incorporated into the curriculum as some aren't as relevant as they used to be.
