Remarks

I chose a liberal arts college like Farook College because I wanted smaller class sizes and the chance to establish close relationships with other students and my professors. I thrive in a collaborative environment, and I relished the opportunity to engage with other students and work together to complete projects. Following listed are the things I liked most about the college: 1. Independence- One of the main things I liked about this college is independence. This college made me independent to take major decisions in my life. A media student should always be independent and critical in one's own decision making no matter whether the outcome is good or bad which is one of the major things I gained from this college. 2. Academia- Academia is another important factor that attracted me to this college. The college provides good academia with greater facilities of library with digital library that enables e-learning as well. The college provides ample atmosphere for research purposes as well.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The syllabus was not updated for us. But the syllabus was updated in 2019. The course provided good exposure in media. The course programme have 42 day internship program where students have to undergo training in any media institutions. This enables the student to student to experience the pros and cons of media field and train them to fit for the job. The faculties in the college are supportive. Since class strength was only 20 it was easy for them to have full attention on us and prepare and train us for the course. Ms. Sonila Florence, The Head of the Department was best among the faculties.

Placement Experience

1

Eventhough my course is a professional oriented course the placement department is not active in enrolling students in various institutions for jobs. The college campus is large but placement cell is not active enough to conduct a job fair to be conducted. But the college gives coaching in UGC-NET for PG students, but it's not quite active in inviting companies for placement purpose.

College Events

4

The campus life was really good. The college union and department had conducted many events which includes academic, cultural and management festivals. There are many inter-departmental as well inter-departmental competition held in the college. The technical fest includes debate competition held by reader's forum club named " Fabate". The competition was successful with full participation of all departments in the college. Book review, Film premiere along with review are some of the events conducted by the college. Media fest is another important festival conducted by the college. The fest includes seminars, various competitions such as photography, quiz, etc. Various Oscar nominated films are also premiered in this fest. Cultural festival conducted by the college include arts festival named "Fozlava". Fozlava is a two day arts festival where the competition is between the hostels and day-scholars. The competition items include both on and off stage. On stage items are mainly group song, extreme variety (where the group of participants should perform a skit/any performance for 20 minutes with a good content on it, the performance shouldn't be a copied one), off-stage competition includes literary writing competitions. The college also had conducted "Singer of the Campus" to select the best singer of the campus. Another competition is "Step-up" to select the best dance team of the college.

Campus Life

4

Farook College is one of the largest colleges in Kerala. The college is termed as South India's Aligarh university. The college is well known for its accolades earned in arts, sports and academics. The college had achieved many prizes for football, handball, etc. The college provides good facilities for athletes. There is a separate hostel facilities provided for athletes. There are gym facilities, and a pretty large sports ground for athletes to practice. The college campus fully enabled wi-fi facility. The library of the college is pretty huge with digital library as well. The college provides ample equipments in labs. For mass communication and journalism course, there is a studio which provides audio-visual aids and softwares for recording and production.

Hostel Facilities

4

Farook college is one of the biggest residential campus in Kerala. The college provides about 8 hostels for girls and boys. The hostel infrastructure is really good. It provides gym facility. The hostel rooms are pretty good with five people sharing. One of the major problems in hostel is the network issue. The rentals of hostel should be paid monthly with the money ranging from Rs 4500 to Rs 5000. The hostel facility is easy to avail for students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my opinion my course MA History is very very traditional. As a student who learn this could only became a Lecture by the syllabus and curriculum. But the improvement in archealogy related pracrical sessions and multi-subject learning by blending it with more geography and politics could make the course more effective and also job securing.

they do offer placements for both ug and pg. But For Pg Structured palcements are limited. For Pg students, especially in commerce and management placement oppartunites are offered. Companies like Federal Bank, Deloitte mostly offered. Since we had no placements, iam focusing currently on content creation and writing, actively working with online media due to my creative interest.

I got to know more about the rules and regulations, and functionality of my country during the course. the course teaches the structure of Indian democracy, its functions etc. It digs deep into politics of the country making sure that when students graduate they have enough info to face reality with politics for india. we learned about constitutions and structure of many major countries. Exams were conducted not according to the rest of the students for us. we had late exams and hence late results and late graduation. difficulty level of exams if you study well enough you can crack it. its theory based degree

The classes were conducted on planned and time keeping. Well covered syllabus before the university exams. Continuous evaluation and revisions on subjects made thr concept clear to a student. Timing of class hours is from 10am to 3pm around 3:30pm all students left the college after classes. There were three breaks for refreshing, i. e, for morning hour, lunch, evening hour breaks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good. At some points, it needs revision. The subjects feel ancient. The teaching also need to be improved. The typical lecture method is very unhelpful. Instead they should introduce digital learning. Also the course lacks in-hand experience on the subject. Rather than the robotic manual learning there's no activity involved

Course curriculum is great and it helps us to prepare for the real world applications and also for the further academic pursuits.By the materials for the syllabus were most not available so it was so difficult for us to prepare for the exams and also the faculty face it so hard to teach us without proper materials. Also the face difficulty in the question level as we are forced to write the exams without proper materials. Our exams were not properly conducted they have published the exam date all of a sudden eventhough we studied semester wise they conducted exams yearly and 1&2 semester together it had us so hard to prepare for exams. Also our valuation was not properly done so only fews percentage of the students were only passed in the exams. The carelessness of the authorities spoiled life of many students like us.
