Remarks

The location of the college is not very prime and it is difficult to access transportation. The campus is beautiful with greenery all around. Rules for going out are very strict and college has high intolerance to alcohol and any substance.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Syllabus followed by BITS Pilani is based on MIT. It is quite relevant and modern. We get facilities such as practice school which give hands on industry experience to the students. Exam structure comprises of quiz midsem and endsem exams. The exam schedule is already given before the semester begins except for surprise quizzes which are decided by the course instructors.

Placement Experience

4.5

Several companies come to the college for placements. We have a complete placement unit where professors and inducted students work to bring in companies. The average ctc is around 10 lakhs. Internships are provided by the college through practice school. It gives industry experience to the students and also includes credits for completion. Students are assessed on the knowledge aquired by them during practice school. Practice school selection is based on cgpa. So more respected companies pick students with better cgpa.

College Events

3.5

Technical event is quark which is celebrated in February. This includes several competition such as robowars, bullion beatdown, bitsmun, etc. Cultural event is the waves. Waves happens during beginning of November. It is the biggest festival of the college. Several students from other colleges attend the festival. There is sports fest called spree which happens during end of march. Many teams and individuals from other colleges participate in the competition held during spree. There are interhostel competition like Zephyear which is done on a smaller scale.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees for each semester is around 2.2 lakhs. I think this is pretty expensive. But considering that the college doesn't receive any aids and does not support admission through management quota, the high fees can be justified. The fees are uniform for all students. There is complete transparency in fee breakdown and we also get swd funds from which money is deducted by mess monthly as well as for other college activities such as fests or buying merchandise.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes, the college offers two kinds of scholarships. Merit and merit-cum need. Merit scholarship can be availed by anyone. The cut-off is set by the college and students can receive upto 100% scholarship in this category. Merit cum need scholarship requires an income certificate based on which college decides eligibility to the scholarship. Most students eligible are given some scholarship based on their scores.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life is pretty good. The gender ratio is very low around 9:1. The clubs and departments in the college carry out most of extracurricular activities in the college. Induction in these clubs requires a process of interviews and questionnaires. Sports facilities are widely available though not a compulsion.

Alumni/Alumna

There is a club that maintains alumni relations. Seniors are quite helpful and guide very well. There is no ragging in the campus and seniors are extremely friendly. Every student is given a mentor group which is headed by a second year student who guides us about any college related queries. This is the peer mentorship program.

Admission

I had to clear the bitsat to get into the college. On basis of your priority of campus and courses they send offer letter. There were 6 rounds held for admission. Each round, the students who didn't want admission were removed and offer letter was given to newer students. We were asked to arrive at respective campuses during the 4th iteration and complete the formalities. After that we could keep our options open for other campuses of BITS Pilani.

Faculty

2.5

The quality of faculty is moderate. They teach as per the curriculum. Most of the professors are well qualified and hold PhDs in their fields. Chamber timings are provided by them so that we can contact them for any doubts or project/research opportunities.

I have no clue but the highest placements are in Computer and IT branches. Civil has probably the least placement. The quality is good thanks to IIT and NIT being in the same campus thus the big companies that come to those colleges also come to our colleges but they prefer those students more because NIT and IIT are more prestigious colleges.
