Remarks

The college is great. A few department buildings are quite old but they're being renovated as I'm typing this. Fully recommended.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Since this is a medical college, theory classes are of little importance. Everyday, we have clinical postings in the morning and theory classes in afternoon. Additionally, if we want we can even go check on the patients in the evening. Exams are conducted every year. The course duration is 4½ years and one year of internship, so that makes it a total of 5½ years. Since government hospitals provide free treatment and medications and apparently this is a famous tertiary health centre, we can see a variety of patients here and thus can learn a lot.

Placement Experience

5

This is a medical college. So unlike other courses, there will not be campus interviews or placements. As we finish our jobs, we are free to practice on our own or we can study further in our field of interest to become a postgraduate.

College Events

4.5

There are many number of events that are conducted by the students every year, but three of them are very popular. 'The Empower' for Academics 'The Euphoria' for culture 'The Stanlea' for sports Others include, Tamil mandram (regarding the tamil language) Aval (regarding Women empowerment) etc

Fee Structure And Facilities

The expenses are very low to be honest. The college fees is around 8000 INR, and the exam fees for every year would be around 7000 INR and that's pretty much everything we pay. Books should be bought separately. The college accepts only cash payment. They do provide fee-breakdown.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers a community scholarship for all except the open category. There is a college alumni scholarship association that helps students in the need. We can apply for these two in the office. We can also apply for third party scholarships such as FFE online.

Campus Life

3.5

The gender ratio is surprisingly 50:50 (approx) every year. Every batch consists of 250 students. Around three quarters of them come from various parts of Tamil Nadu (Chennai, Namakkal, Dharmapuri, Salem are common). The other quarter come from other states out of which Kerala is the most common. We even have students from Northeast coming to our college. Since the selection is entirely based on marks, there's a wide diversity in the economic status of the students. We have a Students council which takes the opinions of the students to the Dean and the management, so that makes the communication process easier.

Alumni/Alumna

I think so, in my through college period my seniors are very much helpful. Related to their experience about subjects, lectures, labs, submissions, vivas, faculties, etc. They too share their experience for cultural events. They too provide books and other equipments required for doing practical. They guide in learning softwares, etc. Alumni- we had a great experience of alumni eg. A.M. Naik- CEO of L&T.

Admission

I got good marks in my 12th board exams. Every one of my teachers and My parents wanted me to become a doctor. I went to the counselling in the first day and I chose Stanley Medical College because, the college was one of the oldest and best medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and has a great reputation. I started my course on August of 2016.

Faculty

4

There are totally 19 subjects in the undergraduate course. Each of them are separate departments. For each department, there'll be a head of the department, unit chiefs, Assistant professors, Associate professors, post graduates, service PGs all of them experienced in their respective branch of healthcare.

Course Curriculum Overview:

the course is very challenging obviously as we're studying to become doctors. it could've been better by increasing the duration of the course. our first year/ semester instead of it being for 12 months was only of 9-10 months so our portions are being pushed a little. it happened due the scam etc around neet and our course start date was pushed. the course could be made easier by increasing the duration of the course. we have exams every week which does make it easier to keep up with the portions but makes it too stressful for us. maybe instead of keeping exams on monday they could change it to saturday so we can relax and be free on sundays.

Placement Experience:

The students in their internship will get around 35000 per month excluding their mess fees, they have the option to opt out of the mess. And once they finish their internship they had to do two years bond in places where the colleges allot them and the salary for those two years will be decided by the place the person goes and itll be definitely more than what they get during internship.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The college strictly follows NMC rules and which is a very good thing as it helps us prepare for both theory and practical as theory give u the vast knowledge and practical allows us to imply what we learnt and also after the new rules of introducing histology we can also apply the idea of more creativity in a field a lot of creativity is yet to be unfolded they also cover important aspects through regular workshops and educate us with guest lectures from other colleges the important improvement which should be done is having the patience to teach a. Crowd of 250 which teachers should undergo special 2-3 classes to make sure they know what they teach is being reached out to everyone the timing of exam and everything is on time theh give us enough time to prepare and get ready
