Remarks

They should focus on practical knowledge and placements. Because in todays world practical information is must. And in engineering practical knowledge is very necessary because without that an engineer is not really a engineer because books can't teach you about the field.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The course curriculum was more theoretical and not practical however in engineering field the course curriculum should focus more on practical knowledge. The labs in our college are very outdated, they should be updated according to the current technology. The exams are conducted 4 times a year, 2 minors and 2 majors. The day was chilled all the time.

Placement Experience

0.5

There wasn't any placement provided by the college, no job opportunities were provided by the college. But in Computer department some placements were provided to the students but in our department no such facilities were provided.

College Events

3.5

There was an event on 3D printing, the whole mechanical department participated in that event. The idea was to get students aware about additive manufacturing process. Etonner was another event that was conducted by the college, this event takes place every year. Students participate in this event in a huge amount. In this event dancing and singing is performed.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was 37800 for the year, it was for tution, apart from that I used to pay 13000 for bus fee and 3000 examination fee for 2 semesters in a year. I think the fee structure was feasible as compared to other colleges.

Fees and Financial Aid

MOMA, Ministry of minority affairs was a scholarship I know about, students used to apply for that and approx 90% of students used to get that scholarship. In that scholarship students used to get 25000 inr in a year.

Campus Life

4

There were various committees in our college that used to prevent ragging in our college and organise various events in our college like religious events. The students in our college are majorly from our own state and I hardly know any student that belongs to any other state. The gender ratio F:M was 3:4.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

I was a day scholar, but I have visited various times to the hostel with my friends. The hostel is OK. But there wasn't any heating facilities provided to the students as in winter the temperature drops upto -6 at our place and the student living in that hostel are from hotter places, so it's very hard for them to stay in hostel without proper heating facilities.

Alumni/Alumna

The seniors were quite good. They used to help us a lot. They used to teach us in there free time and share there experience, they also helped in our major project and used to give us advise that would be benifitial for us.

Admission

There is a CET entrance examination conducted in our state and after that examination counseling is done by the college according to the points of that examination the students get selected in SSM College of Engineering and technology.

Faculty

4

The faculty is very good. They used to help us a lot and treated us like our younger brothers and sisters. They were always there to clear our doubts and tried to teach in simple and easy ways. Most of the faculty was having a Masters degree and some of them were PHD.

Marshal the placement resources so well that our college has close to 90% placement records. Siemens, ABB and such companies where ECE engineers can contribute are the companies that hires us and the average for our ECE branch is 6 lakhs or so.

Placement Experience:

The Placements opportunities are fair as they placement is not good. The average placement is 5 l.p.a which is very low. So you have to prepare for off campus placement. The College is slightly cut off from the top companies and they are not visiting our college from covide period. Thus placement is at not good track.

Students become eligible for campus placements in 8th semester. Companies like L&T construction, Ambuja cement, tata , wipro, jio , Berger, infosys, IBM and many more visit the college. Highest package is around 17 LPA and average package is around 5 LPA . Almost 30 percent students get placement. My plan is to get off campus placement.

The IIT Jammu curriculum blends strong theoretical foundations with practical learning, offering flexibility via electives and research opportunities. It prepares students well for industry and academia. Improvements could include more industry workshops and interactive teaching. Exams are moderately challenging.

The placement of our college is Average and the students are eligible in 7 semester for placement. If the student has any backlog in any of the semester they can't sit in the college placement and also it has minimum criteria of 6.5 cgpa. The percentage of students getting placement is very low sadly
