Remarks

SCMHRD is a growing institution and a brand to reckon with. Though aspirants might not very aware, the industry respects the brand and take students from the institute. It is very student-driven - everything from Placements, admissions, alum networks, institute CSR, etc. is handled end to end by student committees.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is pretty good. We have subjects which when discussing with friends from other colleges are pretty much the same. We have a semester system so it may seem at times that we have a much larger academic load in terms of a number of subjects but this makes SCMHRDians excellent multitaskers and those who can keep their composure in tough situations. We have a lot of projects which are research-focused while keeping application-based learning in mind. We have a research thesis that we have to write in the second year and have live projects which are sometimes desk-based. Our professors also involve us in their research projects and hence we get to be co-authors with them. Exams are clustered together and hence we are not under stress all the time. They are also application-based and sometimes involve case studies and hence only someone who has understood how to apply the concept scores well.

Placement Experience

4.5

We have different placement reports for MBA, MBA (Business Analytics), and MBA (Infrastructure and Development Management). To give you a gist of things - 1. The highest for Core was 38.5 LPA while the median was around 14.5. Companies which came ranged from Colgate Palmolive to HUL, Godrej, Vodafone, ITC, EY, etc. - https://www.scmhrd.edu/assets/pdf/5%20CORPORATE_Brochure%202019.pdf 2. Highest for BA was 22 LPA while the median was 15 and companies which hired for roles included Reliance, Nivea, IBM, Capgemini, etc. - https://www.scmhrd.edu/assets/pdf/5%20CORPORATE_Brochure%202019_MBA%20BA.pdf 3. In IDM, the highest was 15 LPA with companies like EY, PwC etc. coming for finals - https://www.scmhrd.edu/assets/pdf/5%20CORPORATE_Brochure%202019_IDM.pdf. Summer Placement is also good in the college. The college provides summer internships opportunity. The highest stipend in summer internship is 3.2 lakh and we get companies like HUL, ITC, Godrej, Vodafone-idea, Nivea, HSBC, JP Morgan, Nomura, JFL, L'Oreal, Colgate Palmolive, etc. on campus. I personally got through the consulting firm PwC.

College Events

4.5

We have multiple events on campus - 1. NEEV - This is the management-culture fest of SCMHRD and the 3rd largest B-School fest in India. It invites a large footfall and is a much awaited event in India - https://neev.scmhrd.edu/ 2. Yashasvi - This is the event by the Management Committee and focuses on leadership talks and case study competitions - https://blog.scmhrd.edu/conclave/ 3. Leadership week - This is an event that invites CXOs to come and talk to students. 4. TeACH - The event by the Institute Social Responsibility club Samatva, it is n event where a student goes for 3 days to teach government school children. The course, modules, event design, approaching schools, etc. everything is done by students - https://insideiim.com/teach-2-0.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees are in line with the brand which SCMHRD stands for. The college is not a placement agency, it provides a lot of opportunities that require sufficient funding - 1. For the Core batch, the fee is 17,42,800. A breakup can be seen here - https://www.scmhrd.edu/mbaadmissions.

Campus Life

3.5

There are multiple facilities in SCMHRD - 1. Swimming pool 2. Gym. 3. Health center with a psychologist/counselor on demand. 4. Gardens made on campus for students. 5. Multi-sport arenas. In terms of events we celebrate Navratri, Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti etc. This is done by student communities who also arrange a special lunch on those days in the mess. We have a culture committee that performs in the local establishments. We have workshops on Disaster Management, Gender sensitization, organ donation, etc. Dorm parties are the prerogative of the students - which is understood. We have a lot of sporting events such as the War of divisions (intra-SCMHRD event) and Symbiosis Premier League (across students in Symbiosis Infotech Campus).

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is compulsory since it is a residential course. It can range from 2 sharing to 3 sharing. Girl's hostels are all on the campus while boy's hostels are a short walk from campus. All facilities are available in the room i.e. hot water, electricity, weekly cleaning/cleaning on demand, etc.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network is strong in SCMHRD. Outreach programs by our Alumni Relations Team such as city meetups and homecoming on campus ensure the bond is made. Some of our alum come back to teach us as well for eg. Suman Paul (Videcon head of Compensation) teaches Compensation and benefits for every batch. During alum meets current students also get to interact and a lot of alum help during internships for benchmarking data. Alum also prepares the senior batch for final placements by taking GDs and interviews. College seniors are very helpful - they provide guidance during summer internships and there are dedicated sessions to train the junior batch on giving GDs and interviews. I had many positive experiences which have shaped my view of the senior batches as being positive and helpful.

Admission

I was interested in SCMHRD since I always wanted to do HR from office days and I knew the college was known for this, among other specializations. I cleared the SNAP exam, after which I came to their Pune campus for the GDPI process. I had a morning slot, so I came at 8:00 am. The first assessment for the Written Ability test, where we had about 30 minutes to finish two assessments. First was a picture-based assessment where we had to write a basis that and the second was writing in 500 words the middle portion with only the first and last sentence given. After that, I had my group discussion, here there were two types of group discussions both of about 15-20 minutes. First was a normal GD with a GK-based topic, the second was a video that was shown to us (mine was around child labour) and we had to discuss the same. Finally, I had my personal interaction, where for 20 minutes they asked me about myself and my interests. Towards the end of the interaction, they gave me a case to solve. Overall it was a smooth process with very few hiccups.

Faculty

4

We have an interesting system where we rely on a combination of in-house faculty, visiting as well as external industry experts. In-house faculty are well qualified with all of them having PhDs and doing good research work. Our visiting faculty are from other colleges like JBIMS, SIBM, etc. and therefore we get a flavor of what our competitors are getting as well. In terms of external faculty, we have had people coming from British and German universities, industry experts like former HR head of Finolex and current HR head of Vguard to come and teach us subjects.

Placement Experience:

The placements depend upon which Specialization you're in. If you're a marketing student there will be lots of good companies coming in for placements followed by finance and then HR. You become eligible for placement from 3rd semester. Companies such as Deloitte, PWC, TCS, HCL, etc. visit the campus for placements and offer a good amount of Packages.

We learned a lot from the curriculum and the college itself. My journey was a mixed bag of feelings with many sweet and sour moments. The classroom sessions were fun and so were the field visits and management activities like webinars or mock marketing competitions.

College is almost good .this for those who want only masters but no placement .if you also want to get placed in any company need only degree ur welcome. The management is worst the nonteaching staff doesn't know how to talk with students especially the admission office. I here declare whatever I have seen and suffered I presented my view about this college to you, not it's your choice to go to heaven like symbiosis or choose hell. I was misguided and helpless so I came here means I got fewer marks in a snap so please students appear for snap sincerely.
