Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is laid in line with the UGC defined guidelines for the Science based undergraduate program in Botany. The university follows the semester wise system of examination. In a single year one has to qualify 2 semester examinations in order to proceed to the next year of study. Assignments and mid-term tests are conducted before the end semester examination for the purpose of evaluation of our performance.

Placement Experience

2.5

In terms of placement aur University is ok. You cannot expect that 80% to 100% placement can be achieved in for a given batch. However it is not like that no good offer comes through campus drives. Most of the students rely on their own in terms of placement. Same goes true with internship as one is on his own to get the internship done.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since it is a government university the fee is quite feasible as compared to the fee for the same course in a private colleges. The total amount to be paid for the 5 year integrated program is around 40,000 rupees. That is each year you have to submit around 8,000 rupees.

Fees and Financial Aid

The state government of Jammu and Kashmir offers scholarship to the meritorious student who are the domicile of the state. Students from reserved category are also offered scholarship. Girls students are also offered scholarship by the state government. Apart from the state government scholarship one can also apply for the scholarship offered by the central government. Educational loan facility is also offered by bank like the state bank of Jammu and Kashmir.

Campus Life

3

The university has a good number of societies and clubs that organise various event like dance competition, dramatics competition, sports competition etc from time to time. In terms of infrastructure the classrooms and labs are equipped with sufficient elements required to make the learning easier.

Admission

I applied for the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) which is the gateway to admission in the university. After qualifying the CUCET I got admission in the department of Science. I opted for the university because it is one of the popular University and that to a government institute thus the fee is also less than the private college.

Faculty

4

Faculty in our college is very experienced. Many of our teachers are involved in setting up of question papers for the state level entrance examinations. Teaching methodology is very good and the focus is always on making us understand the things rather than just going for memorization.

I have interest in physics so I choose bsc in physics as major subject.. As mathematics is quite related with physics so I choose it as a minor subject.. There are two phases of exams and in these phases there is a lot of time to prepare for the exams.. However teachers method of teaching was quite friendly and soft spoken ..

Students are eligible for placemnt after third year. total 8 companies from local Food and beverage companies and agriculture related companie came for campus placements. Most of the student didnt take offers from the companies because none of the companies were offering more than 15k to 18k per month I also didnt take the placement offer for the same reason and now i am thinking for further studies from somewhere that have good placements Out of 23 students who were eligible for placements only 3 accepted the offer.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose science-non medical subjects being MATHS, GEOGRAPHY, and GEOLOGY. Reasons are my interest and love for these subjects. Class students and teachers ratio is good: 40-1. Teachers' qualifications are also good: MSc, Ph.D., NET qualified. Our exams were semester-wise [once in six months]. it was easy to pass if you just study normal and attend classes.

Remarks:

A Good College Even though the college life seems like a fairy-tale to you, it is not. There are so many things that you have to be careful about when you are visiting a college and checking out its ambience. Don’t get influenced by the clean campuses that most of the colleges have; they purposely do it so that people like you get attracted to their appearance and join their team. If you don’t want to waste your hard earned money on the fees of the wrong college which spoils your fairy-tale dream, you might want to take admission in a college that’s good enough for students like you.
