Course Curriculum Overview
Course work for PhD programmes is very relevant and maliable. You can pick and choose your own individual challenges and subjects. There are no restrictions on the freedom of choice. However, you might have to enroll in a few Swayam course for the completion of your course work. The course work also does not prepare you for any real world applications or even your PhD really. Course work can be heavily improved by a new hands-on pedagogy which may induce ideas instead of deducing them from various books and sources. The frequency of exams is once per coursework.
Fees and Financial Aid
I pay my fees semester-wise. Total amounts to approximately 15000 per year. There is no relaxation of fees on the basis of category. I am the only person in my batch of my degree course. I receive a financial aid of 8000 rupees per month, which goes into covering my food and lodging, as it is not provided by the university. I pay 7000 rupees per month as rent.
Campus Life
Overall campus life is very good the annual events like combatica and Udaan are very enthusiastically celebrated the range and accessibility of books and journals available in the library is also very good facilities and Technology is technology professions within the classrooms are also good each classroom has its own projector and digital smart board the sports and extra curricular activities of for the campus include badminton chess table tennis volleyball Marathon cricket and various other activities like painting club reading club etc there are many student and social groups clubs and student portals which are available on the university website.
Admission
I had applied to Central University of Himachal Pradesh. However, Central University of Jammu has better infrastructure and better opportunities to grow academically. Thus, this is a better alternative.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is quiet good. In some masters programmes there are more faculty members than students. However in bachelor's degrees the ratio ranges from 10:1 to 20:1 for student to teacher. Some empathetic faculty members include Prof Vandana Sharma and Prof Uday Pratap Singh. They try to help their students whenever possible. There are no faculty members that I actively dislike. Exams happen every twice per semester, mid semester and end semester fashion. Failures are rare, but are known to happen.
Night Life
Nightlife in the campuses mostly non existent because there is only one hostel in the university which has 100 bed capacity however in the coming years it is possible that the university will have its own nightlife as there is a upcoming 500 bed boys hostel and 500 bed girls hostel coming up in the future the university is aggressively and very rapidly expanding its infrastructure and I am very certain that in the coming years the university will be one of the most highest rated universities in all of Jammu and Kashmir.
