Course Curriculum Overview
Calcutta University follows CBCS i.e. Choice Based Credit System. This enables us to learn more about our subject in a less amount of time. There are tutorials that take place which is helpful in understanding the concepts. Professors are highly skilled and are very eligible to teach the subject.
Placement Experience
There is no placement offers in our college. It was once held in 2017. But we never had any such placement cell.
College Events
Various seminars on different subjects are held from time to time. Students are taken for excursions to different cities. But very few cultural programmes take place. Every programme is educational and very informative. Fests are never organized. But various seminars take place.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since this is a government college, the fee structure is very affordable. It is much less than other private colleges offering this course. There is tuition fee, practical fee, activity fee, common room fee, library fee, computer fee and examination fee.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I haven't opted for any scholarships or education loans as I wasn't eligible for any. But the college offers such scholarship for financially weaker students.
Campus Life
This is a girls college basically. There are no clubs or political unions whatsoever. Extracurriculars are very less. Just one intra college competition is held once a year. Fests even if planned are cancelled. There is a functioning students' council.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. The hostel is clean and the food is edible. It is cleaned everyday. Our curfew time is 7 pm within which we have to be in. Our warden is a nice lady. Hostel seats are given on the basis of the distance of the home of the students.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni are often invited for delivering motivational speech about their respective fields. This is very helpful.
Admission
I wanted to pursue Economics and was searching for good colleges under Calcutta University. Lady Brabourne College is a reputed college in Kolkata. I applied online and was called for an interview. I was selected in the first list. It was a great feeling.
Faculty
We have 5 professors in our department currently. Four of them hold doctorate degree in this field. They are very interactive with the students and are very knowledgeable. There is a whole lot to learn from them. It is a pleasure to study under their guidance.
