Remarks

The university is good but the department lacks a system. Classes are not held regularly but apart from this the department structure is really fine. The department has a separate library in the department building itself which is really a boon for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course structure is really good. It covers all the aspects of art (painting, sculpture and architecture) and its history and also has a paper on aesthetics, iconography etc. We have four papers per semester. We have semester system. Every semester we have semester exams and praticals. For internals we have to submit assignments and also we do have number of snap tests.

Placement Experience

1

No, there are not any such placements in the department but the university do have a placement cell. There are no interships as such. Most of the students go for higher studies and for PhD. The professors provide ample guidance for the same.

College Events

5

There are annual fests like rose festival and aaghaz. Other than that there are numerous of departmental fests that go round the year. In the aspect of cultural university Panjab University is really a gem.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee is not much as compared to other universities owing to the fact that its a government university but they do charge a lot for the examination fees as compared to other government university. Apart from that the fee structure is affordable

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarship programmes. One of such initiatives is earn while you learn where you get paid for working/reading one or two hours in the library. There are other scholarships as well which are offered on basis of merit and economical status.

Campus Life

5

There are more of female students than male. Around 60 percent of the students are female. Students come from diverse backgrounds, cultures and religion. The PU student politics is one of the best political grounds for students. It is really diverse and there are a numbet of student parties. One thing is to be noted that our university also has separate washouroom for transgenders.

Hostel Facilities

2

I did opt for hostel but i didnt get one. My name was on the waiting list but in this scenario the staff is rather corrupt and I didnt get hostel even after the completion of one semester. The hostel of Panjab University are one of the best.

Alumni/Alumna

Not as much. Although there is alumni association which is very active but the alumnus are not that helpful and interactive. There is a lack of alumni activities in the university. But the condition is considerably good.

Admission

The admission was on the basis of merit list cum entrance cum interview. 50 percent was taken from the graduation marks and marks of 10nt and 12th were also considered. Entrance and interview comprised the rest 50 percent. I got admission in St Xavier's college Mumbai as well in Archaeology but I was more in interested in perusing history of arts as I'm an artist myself.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the department is well read and qualified. We have two main professors and then there are research scholars who take two of our papers. The teacher incharge of the department is a pioneer in iconograpy and the other professor is really an icon.

Placement Experience:

Numerous companies keep collaborating with the university and many students are placed every year. The minimum value of package is 3.5Lpa and it goes up to 12Lpa depending upon the course and the ability of the students My plan after this degree is to clear the net/jrf because i want to be a professor in my respective subject.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is lengthy and monotonous. It is time consuming and the semesters are short. Usually a semesters lasts for not more than 4 months we get very little time to prepare for our exams. Also the syllabus needs to be updated and changed.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The best thing about this curriculum is that it is non very burdensome for us and easy to navigate through. It is well divided into multiple units making it easier to navigate through. For example - there is this course of key concepts in the very first semester which lays foundation for upcoming all semesters. Similarly in the first semester, we are taught Constitution of India laying the basics very clear . I personally choosed this course due to my interest and it's application in almost every competition exam out there. There can be a little bit improvement regarding the introduction of research methodology courses. Since there are no courses yet, it often cause a problem for students who want to pursue PhD in future. The frequency of exams is fine enough as there is a lot of time for us to adjust in the new semester and enjoy all the curricular and co curricular activities without a constant load of examinations all the time. This is the best thing I find.
