Remarks

One negative remark would be regarding the mess food. The mess food usually tends to be something which most people find miserable. Another aspect of our university which dissapoints me is the really less amount of holidays for any cultural festivals.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I am doing MSc Systems Biology and the course is of five years. In the first two years, we study along with the IMSc students of other branches and we get to study most subjects in an undergraduate level. In the third year we are moved into our respective departments where we have classes with the regular MSc students. I have felt my course as a very research oriented one especially giving focus to multidisciplinary learning. The course as such involves learning of biology as well as other subjects with a particular focus on computation and programming.

Placement Experience

3.5

Our course is a research oriented one and most of the alumni has taken the path of research either in India or abroad. But there are also placements, but it's relatively less. Our college provide internships via IAS SRFP or just by direct mailing. I have done an internship in my college but it wasn't a paid internship.

College Events

4

We have a lot of conferences happening in our University overall on a daily basis. The speakers are usually renowned in their field from india or abroad. Our university also celebrates the cultural festivals which are usually initiated by certain community. There are also state specific fests conducted by the respective state's students. The major University fest is called Sukoon which happens in every even semesters.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Given the quality of education we are receiving and the lab facilities in our University, the course fee structure is fairly reasonable. Apart from the course fee, the hostel fee which is 500 per semester is really cheap. Even the mess basic is pretty cheap. But the quality of the mess food is something which I can't give a guarantee on.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions

There are certain scholarship which are awarded to the socially backward communities. But I'm not really sure about the details. But students usually get to pay their mess bills with that pretty fine.

Campus Life

4.5

The labs are really good, especially in our school of Life sciences. We have a really big building which has a lot of research labs and we have department specific academic labs which is also pretty impressive. The university is also a good space for sports for those who are interested. We have a very good gym, badminton courts, TT facility and 2- 3 spacious play grounds. The geneder ratio is pretty high and the student diversity is also maintained from students coming from different states across India. There are also international students too. In my opinion, the tolerance to different social aspects like race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, politics and economic status is really good.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostels are pretty large to accommodate the large number of students. The hosteliers are provided with a single room shared by two. The room is also spacious enough. The washouroom is a common washouroom in each wing. The hostel fees per semester is just 500 and for that fee, the hostel is really good. I am not really sure about PG facilities but they usually take a monthly rent of around 6000.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of our university has gone to varying heights of success. Most of our alumni are doing their research and mostly in good institute either in India or abroad. Our senior students also has shown great success by getting selected to project works abroad. Our seniors are really enthusiastic about the subject and has helped us in going in the right path as they are highly accomplished themselves.

Admission

I applied for University of Hyderabad integrated MSc entrance exam which opens somewhere in March to may time period. The exam was in June and it was easy. Sooner the results were out and in July we had the admissions. And our classes started in mid of July.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college are highly qualified and try to include their research experiences while teaching. But then there are also bad teachers but the ratio is better compared to many colleges. The faculty here, mostly has their own research labs where research is actively done. Thus the practical knowledge of the faculty is not to be doubted.
