Remarks
I feel like it is the best choice if you have screwed up your jee and want a good environment to study and be yourself.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very good and way far better than other universities as i compared with my friends. The learning is not only the bookish knowledge, you het hands on experience, you write your own codes run them improve them with the help of teachers. There is a place known as explore hub which is damn good built for the ones who want to work on startups and the ones who want to write codes and codes. There are thouree mid term tests out of which you have to attempt at least 2 at the gap of 3-4 weeks and the syllabus is well divided anong them and then the final end term exam. There are many events going on around the college so the learning is not only limited to the classes. The placements are very good at this college as far as i can see as the half of the batch who will graduate in 2021 has already been placed.
Placement Experience
The placement in college is very good. Its 100 % even the low graders get placed in some startup. The placement starts from the 6th semester which is basically starting with an internship. The average package which computer science students get is around 5-6 lpa with maximum being 18-20 and minimum around 2lpa. Almost all startups around tricity come for placement. Companies such as Infosys come as mass recruiters. Also amazon comes for placement but picks only a few like 4-5 students with a hefty package
College Events
The main cultural fest is algorithm which includes all types of events may it be dance singing hacking gaming etc. All around india people from different universities come and take part. Also events like civings and technofest is organized and small hackathons keep going side by side. There are camps for NSS and NCC and then there is athlos athletic event. And then the north zone sports tournament where students of all north universities take part.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The tution fees is 70k per sem and then comes if you are a day scholar or hosteller since i am a dayschollar so i opted the bus facility which is 20k per sem. If you take hostel it costs 52k per sem including everything meals laundry etc but there are only double shared or tripple shared rooms. No there are no other hidden expenses
Fees and Financial Aid
No there aren't any scholarships. Its just that students with good jee scored are asked first in counseling which course they want to opt so the ones with a lower score may or may not get their interested course
Campus Life
The gender ratio as i can see is 1:1. There is no discrimination and the good thing is there is 0 ragging in the college. The environment is good. About the competitions, yes there are frequent sports, debates, photography competitions going on in the college which are managed by different clubs. There are clubs for each thing such as toastmasters, pic it, Cu archs the sports one, and then technical ones. There are workshops organized on technical things and then for each festival there are events organized.
Hostel Facilities
No, i stay at my home and go via bus The hostels are average the rooms are good but there are combined restrooms and bathourooms for 1 floor in boys hostel but in girls there is one attached to each room
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the seniors are very helpful. They'd even stay long at nights to help you learn if you are stuck in something guide you which courses requore much more of your attention to the placements and then the alumni network is good too. Students who have been successful in their startup such as one i know chai nagri come to the college for the placmenets with a good package.
Admission
Just after my jee exam, i knew i won't score the best so i started searching for universities which were good and my friends told me about this university which is good in every aspect and that i"ll be able to get my interested course. So i filled the online form at the website chitkara.edu.in and the first counseling as i can remember was in june maybe 8th or 9th which i attended and got admission in my interested course.
Faculty
We have around 5-6 lectures a day and each lecture is of around 50 minutes. The faculty is quite good in teaching. Most of them have done PhD in their respective subjects since aging around mid 30s. They do have industry experience and one or two of our professors even have their own startups such as the learning platforms which they are even using for the college learning. But also there are some teachers who don't know very much about the subject so you'd have to learn it on your own. There are some extra certifications which college is providing in sponsorship in red had, cloud computing.
