Remarks

College management from what I've seen is terrible. Most rules that they impose on the students is impractical.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is relevant, however, the course that I opted for was Electrical and Electronics engineering. But here they only offer electrical engineering. That was a false lead. Although the course curriculum is very relevant, it isn't very research driven.

Placement Experience

4

Placement is really good for some departments and not so good for others. The placements for electrical and electronics engineering isn't too great.

College Events

2.5

There are 2 main big festivals. One is a technical festival called Technozion. Other colleges are invited for the festival and there are many events within the festival. The other festival is a cultural one called spring spree. There are many cultural events in which prizes can be won. There is also a management festival called Cura. It is however mainly for the students doing their Masters.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is feasible. As a DASA student, getting in thourough the ciwg quota gives you a fee waiver which reduces the fees to the same fees the JOSAA students pay. The college does provide transparency in the fee breakdown. However there is an extra Rs. 500 every single student in the college has to pay for along with the tuition fee. They say the money is for SpringSpree. The money doesn't go into good use.

Fees and Financial Aid

I opted for CIWG quota which stands for the children on gulf workers. This allows for a fee waiver.

Campus Life

1

There is a significant difference between the number of boys and girls in the college - boys outnumber the girls. There is a lot of gender discrimination within the college. There are only a very few sports for girls to play which is very limiting and discouraging.

Hostel Facilities

1

I've gotten a double room this year. First they insisted that I stay with a student that I wasnt comfortable with, but with a lot of arguing, I got that changed. Students studying in NITW are only allowed to stay in the hostels in campus. The curfew timings and a lot of other things are not the same for boys and girls which creates gender discrimination.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students and alumni are very helpful, be it academics or just life in college. They're very friendly which enhances my college experience.

Admission

I wrote SAT 2 and the marks I got there got me in to NITW. I got the course I opted for, however, the place wasn't my first option. I got in thourough the ciwg quota which means I only have to pay a reduced fee. We're given options while picking the course and college.

Faculty

3

There are a few really good professors that make the students want to attend lectures. Then there are some other professors who don't teach that well. This makes students feel like they should just do the subject on their own. The lectureres are all very qualified.

Placement Experience:

Internships starts from spring break of 4th sem and placements start from spring break of 6th sem ( if you don't get a PPO ) Many big companies like Microsoft , Oracle , DeShaw and Qualcom visit the college. More than 80% of student that are eligible for placements get placed while the others get off campus placements or opt for higher studies. My plans after getting th degree depends on the CTC of package I get offered. If it is not upto my expectation I will pursue higher education abroad.
