Remarks

If placement is your ultimate objective and you want to enjoy your college life then MSE is the best place. If you want to purse research then got DSE/ISI/IGIDR/JNU but don't go to MSE.

Entrance Preview

I took an independent exam conducted by Madras School of Economics, Score wasn't declared by the Institute, I took MSE because that was the only college I got through.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Course curriculum is Industry oriented, They offers you subjects that are high in demand in Analytics, Basic and Advance Time Series, Basic and Advance Econometrics, Risk, Stochastic Finance, Micro and Macro Economics, Financial Economics, Computational Programming, Mathematics.

Internships Opportunities

I got into NCAER for internship and that was via my own source. Very few companies visits campus for internship but they pay well average internship package is around 20,000.

Placement Experience

4.5

80 percent of my batch got placed, As the courses are industry oriented, people generally get placed off campus also. Citi Bank, IBM, TCS, HP, Ford, Target Retail, 24x7 are the few regular recruiter at campus.

College Events

2

There were lot inter college debate competition that happened when I was in second year. Annual days is generally celebrated at a rich scale. You can see lot of high profile people like Dr Kelkar coming to campus for delivering lecture or presenting research findings. Biggest event at college is the convocation.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Its costlier than IITs but yes not as costly as IIMs people from financially weak background can also sustain with small amount (2.5-3 lacs) of bank loan.

Fees and Financial Aid

Two merit scholarship of INR 2500 is awarded to the student of all courses unfortunately I was also a merit scholarship holder.

Campus Life

3

Its a small campus with very less space for playing we use to play cricket, badminton, football and table tenis (My Favorite). We use to play till 4 a.m in the morning you can do whatever you want, nobody cares.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Our hostel was the best place and the mess was the worst in the college, there was no warden, you can go out at anytime but I have heard that things has changed now. College management is little strict. Fooding was the biggest issue at our but now the caterer has changed so that is not a problem anymore.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network of madras school of economics is way too bad, You yourself will have to put efforts to get in touch with seniors. I am in touch with lot of my seniors, super seniors, super super seniors.

Exam Structure

If you like chill environment with very less pressure for exams then Madras School of Economics is the best place. College gives you enough gaps in exams to study.Madras School of Economics is not like IITs where you might have to appear for two exams in a day, Its a very chilled out place.

Faculty

3.5

Half of the faculty is really nice, Dr. Kaushik Chaudhary, Dr. Anandita Mukkerjee, Dr. Saumitra Bhaduri, Dr. D.K Srivastav, Dr. Shambugum, Dr. Zareena Khan are Awesome faculties.

Actually I am currently in seconnd semester right now, I am not sure about the eligiblity criteria for campus placements. But I gathered some informations about the placement process with the help of students who completed their degree here recently. Most of the students having skills in demand based on the company requirements will get selected. Companies with good reputation will visit during campus placements. My aim was to getting placed in a company with good reputation and descent salary package.
