About Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri

Remarks :

Positive remark is that this college is having student technical clubs like amfoss and bi0s where students study cryptography, web development, app development etc. Negative remark is that this college is 10 kms away from railway station.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Course curriculum is somewhat a bit hard. Ofcourse, there are a lot of lab sessions and every time there is continuous evaluation. This college is best for research studies too. Exams are conducted once per every month as a periodical test whose marks are considered for our semester cgpa.

Placement Experience :

Placements and job opportunities are a lot in this college. Yes, our college provides internship. Our college is in tie up with many foreign universities. Companies like microsoft, google and cisco have our alumnis working there who all got jobs thourough placemnet from here. I'm just first year now.

College Events :

Technical events like various workshops are conducted. Our annual techfest is known by the name Vidyut which is said to be india's largest multifest. Many cultural programs like diwalI dance, garba dance, kalolsavam, sports day and everything is celebrated here.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

Fees is somewhat high. For 2019-2023 B. Tech ECE admission, I'm paying around 2. 40 lakhs per annum with extra hostel fees of ?68, 000 per annum. So, I think it is somewhat high. If the student is joining the college thourough the management quota, he or she must have to pay one lakh more than us who joined thourough merit.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Those who are scoring good ranks in the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination, are given various scholarships (90%, 75%, 50%). I haven't taken loans, so, I don't know about it. Also scholarships are there for students who score good cgpa in every year.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio here I think is more boys than girls. Workshops are conducted bimonthly. Labs are well equipped and furnished with costlier tools. There is no politics inside the college(no parties or something like that). There is a sports day consisting of 2 days per year. Student groups like Amfoss, Bi0s groups are active here which are performing high level in the national CTF's and all that.

Hostel Facilities :

First year boys hostel is near the Mata AmritanandamayI Ashouram which is 1. 8 km away from college which is a small room consisting of 4 members in a single room. But second year boys hostel has ample space which is more nearer to college.

Alumni/Alumna :

College seniors are very helpful. They gave us some solutions to study properly and they have mentored us how to manage time thouroughout a day. AlumnI is very wonderful such that they conducts some activities in our college.

Admission :

I got into this college thourough JEE mains entrance examination. In this college 30% merit seats are reserved for students applying thourough jee and other 70% are getting selected thourough AEEE entrance exam. There is no interview. Only there is a document verification program.

Faculty :

Our college faculties, many of them are Ph. D laurates and others are experienced for more than 25 years of teaching. So, faculties are awesome if you study like they ask you to. Some youngsters are also faculties here who are very energetic enough to make us motivate to learn that subject.

Actually placement cell is a bit week the company's is not that reputed and they offer monthly salary of 12k to 15k. Probably some startup companies. And many students choose that and work for 1 or 2 years to gain experience and then they apply for better opportunities.

From the 3rd year onwards we could attend placement interviews and many companies used to approach our college but mostly IT companies as I was in civil dept the construction companies were very less or NIL. In our batch, most of the students got placed and many offer letters but the only disadvantage was the offers were not from the core companies.
