Remarks
Overall, it's an overwhelming experience to be a part of a college with students of an inspiring intellectual level and faculty that motivates you to do better. I push myself to be a better individual everyday and I'm glad I have people who support me in the process.
Course Curriculum Overview
For commerce students class starts early in the morning and finishes quite early which is a pretty chill schedule because it leaves us a lot of free time the entire day. The course structure is pretty much organized although we may find a few faults here and there especially for the course I have opted, which is understandable since it's the first year. Also, they're paying a lot of attention to the first batch, ofcourse because you wouldn't want your first batch to fail miserably in a course you have taken a lot of pain to introduce in the college. In the 2 semesters there is an end-sem exam and also a mid-sem exam after 2 months to help prepare the students for the scary end-sems. Assignments and presentations form a part of the total marks. Weightage is also given to attendance in the form of marks which is kind of stressful to maintain.
Placement Experience
Yes, the college provides internships. Since I am a first year I have not got the opportunity to go for the internship yet and earn the stipend. But from what I have heard the placement opportunities the college provides are of a very high level and satisfactory to the students.
College Events
St. Joseph's college of science and arts is a huge college which has equal opportunities for all the thouree streams namely Arts, Science and Commerce. Every department has their own fests on intra-college as well as inter-college levels. Also, the whole college comes together as one big unit for the major fests that take part and it's always a super hit.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees is feasible and is not a lot compared to other colleges. For regular bcom the fees is 65, 000 where's for the international course its 95, 000. The other courses are reasonable as well and won't pinch pockets for most middle class families.
Fees and Financial Aid
I have no idea about this. I came on the basis of merit and interview and honestly did not score any mind blowing marks that I could be offered a scholarship. So ofcourse I have no idea. Also, no loan facilities as such do I know of.
Campus Life
There are no gender defined roles in the college. People from every part of the country come to this college and there is no such intolerant behavior against anyone in particular. Everyone comes as an individual with their own uniqueness and they are all respected for it and the background doesn't really matter in the end.
Alumni/Alumna
College seniors are really helpful when it comes to handling the stress and tension of being a first year. They're easy to approach and you do not get the feeling of being an interference in their lives. But since this college doesn't have a hostel life it's more difficult to get in touch with seniors since you do not really know anyone particularly.
Admission
I got admission on the basis of my 12th marks and was called for an interview as soon as it seemed plausible. This is a course which is soon expected to gain a lot of popularity and has potential to lead students to a successful path in the foreseeable future. It's a lot like the Indian exam of CA but has a global approach (mainly in the UK) which makes it easier to work in India as well as abroad. It's the first year this college has opted for the course and we are the first batch.
Faculty
Faculty appointment is up to the mark on this college. You can see they are professionals who really take pain for the subject and also form a sort of attachment to the students which is peaceful and nice. I can proudly say that most of them are really good at their jobs and we'll, there are always a few instances where you will be dissatisfied. It's good to see them so connected to the course and become such well-wishers of students and help us prepare for the forthcoming exams.
