Remarks

College management is a bit lazy but the college faculty are one of the best you can find

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum lays the foundation required for the career in hospitality industry. Now the course doesnt include only kitchen, it also includes other core departments such as housekeeping, Front Office, Food And beverage service. Other than that there are subjects like food science, nutrition, accounts, computers, facility planning, food and beverage control that you will need to learn over the course of 3 years or to say 6 semesters. Also the student will have to go through industrial training as well for one semester which helps in understanding the industry and helps in deciding the department that you want to work for once done.

Placement Experience

3.5

Coming to internship or industrial training as we call it. It is basically for 4 months and you can try and complete it in whichever 5 star property you want. The training should be completed in all the 4 core departments. There will be lot of grinding and your patience will be tested. If you are really passionate about the industry, it can be done

College Events

4

Very few events are celebrated in the college but you are encouraged to participate in competition held in other colleges. Events like college day, theme lunch or food fest and sports day, ethnic day etc are celebrated. Theme lunch is basically for the second year students and is one of the important events as lot of people from hotels and tourism industry honor the event

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very decent compared to other colleges or other private colleges. The fees goes up to 40-50k per semester increasing every semester. The fees can be paid online in sbi portal or demand drafts can be given. Other private colleges charge a huge amount such as about 10 lakhs for the course

Fees and Financial Aid

No the college does not offer any scholarship facilities although you can avail education loans if you find it difficult to bear the fees

Campus Life

3

The gender ratio comparatively is very low and among a batch of 230 students, about 60 are girls and the reat boys. Although the numbers are increasing with every year. Coming to extracurricular activities. There are 4 clubs associated to 4 core departments. Different activities related to hotel management and other workshops such as photography and sushi workshop for example are done in interest of students. Almost every week is used for these purposes by each club.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

I have not opted hostel rooms although the hostel is about 15 kms away from college but is well connected by metro and other transportation such as buses. The rooms are on sharing and the food served here is pathetic ironically in a hotel management college

Alumni/Alumna

College seniors do help of course if you meet the right person. They help you by telling their industial experiences, placement details and other career guidance in the right way.

Admission

I was always interested in cooking since i was a kid. I always wanted to pursue my career in these lines. So i was doing a lot of research about this in my school and realised that only a few colleges can give you the desired education and career opportunities. Then i got to know that you need to clear a Joint Entrance Examination named as NCHM-JEE to get into any of these colleges. That is Institute of hotel management colleges across India.

Faculty

4

Every core department has three lecturers and these are well experienced and try to turn you into managers or future hotelier leaders through assignments, knowledge and projects they give. I would say that IHM Bangalore has one of the best faculty. The faculty have real time experience in the industry and know hoe it works. They give you valuable information about the Industry and get us prepared for the same
