If I will get a chance, I will teach finance and mathematics in my college VIT Vellore. It's heaven for me.
Entrance Preview
AIEEE Exam - Approx 8000 AIR, I opted for this college after having a review of its biotechnology department and infrastructure on the internet and its the website.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was too complex for a BTECH course. But it was advanced, in sync with the latest trend in technological space, and good for us. I liked Neural Networks, Data Mining, Algorithms, and other relevant computational biology framework a lot.
Internships Opportunities
We managed our internship on certain recommendations from our professors and we approached many companies like Strand Genomics, Shanta Biotech, etc.
Placement Experience
IBM, CTS, Wipro, TCS, Infy were their primary companies. Others were Oracle, Thought Works, etc. The primary company offered to pay in the range 2.5 L - 3.0 L etc Other companies offered even beyond 5-6 L CTC Note: yr- 2006-2007.
College Events
IEEE-tronics where advanced research papers are presented, Robotics and Electronics Exhibition where students from other engineering colleges also participated, Cultural Events in January used to mesmerize the entire population of VIT for one week.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee Structure is OK. Given the standard and cleanliness of campus and reputation of courses, fees are fine. I feel that fees can be increased a bit and some more intellectual professors can be recruited.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I did not use any such facility by college or management and I have no clue on that too. But one can avail loan outside the college on the name of reputed course.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is better than most of the colleges. In our batch girls to boys ratio was close to unity and we had interesting trips outside college with faculty members.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel Facilities are good for most people. I really enjoyed it a lot and feel like I spent my days in heaven.
Alumni/Alumna
They are co-operative and have always been helpful. I appreciate them and talk to them whenever I meet them or see them online. They helped us in college and had been like friends.
Exam Structure
Too frequent.CAM exams were conducted 3 times in a semester and one exam at end of the semester. Total 8 semesters for BTECH where final semester was just project submission.
Faculty
Faculty were trained and cooperative. But I feel that Bio info was technically the latest field and hence, they lacked up-to-date knowledge in certain areas.
