Remarks
Personally, despite all the great facilities, infrastructure and faculty, for a guy coming from a different background compared to everyone else, it can be a really boring life unless you're willing to make social sacrifices. I still see it as a place not meant for TRUE artistic freedom because of the vastly different crowd who are simply used to one type of artistic culture only.
Course Curriculum Overview
It was a brand new curriculum and it did encourage a lot of research. The exam pattern/structure was fine although the Labs can get pretty hectic for most of the subjects but it does simmer down towards the end (with the exception of Final Year Projects, of course)
Placement Experience
The college provides, encourages and suggests a lot of internship opportunities. When it comes to placements, it was poor but maybe that's mainly due to the new curriculum because now a lot of civil companies have come forward looking for graduate recruits. It's also worthy to note that there were plenty of IT/software companies looking to hire students in the final year including Infosys and Amazon.
College Events
1. Nakshatra: The College's Biggest Intercollege Cultural fest 2. Pratithya: Nakshatra's Byproduct but its College only. 3. Samyog: The College's Intercollege Technical fest. It's ok. 4. Srishti: The College's Technical Exhibition. It's more Zonal level, sees a lot of participants from South India. There are quite a bunch of Management fests as well although I don't have much knowledge about them.
Fee Structure And Facilities
In all quotas, the fee structure is feasible. I'm not fully in touch with the fee structure but I know merit fees has rs. 95k or less for a year. They charge based on tuition and they also charge for uniforms which they provide clothes for tailoring at the start of each year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Haven't recieved any scholarships although if you achieve a high academic score during your first 2 years, you will be presented an opportunity to go for a twinning programme with the University of Columbia for your last 2 years (wish I had known about this opportunity earlier). Scholarships that would be provided would actually be based on your financial background. Loans are also available.
Campus Life
Labs are good and they continue to improve in number and quality. There are no dorm parties however Student parties are more often than not, conducted unofficially and very, very casually, it really depends upon on your social circle. There are more girls than boys. Most of the students come from a similar background although recent batches are showing a lot of students coming from abroad and outside the state. Everyone is tolerant to each other's differences. You don't have to worry THAT much about the political indifference although I suggest not to get involved TOO MUCH.
Hostel Facilities
The Hostel rooms are great. The hostel mess is quite literally the BEST in the entire state (No Joke.) They have 2 to 3 hostel buildings, each divided according to which year you are and which type of course you are taking. Everything else is great although the hostel rent can sometimes cone under scrutiny for being expensive.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni is always there to help. The senior students were fine. I mean, as far as I know. Many of the seniors are friendly and there hasn't been much of a severe case of ragging. And the Alumni is always ready to lend a helping hand in providing employment.
Admission
Basically, I got the admission through the Govt. Merit List during the 3rd placement. I already had my mind set on getting Civil Engineering no matter what. I also wished that I get it through a merit rank and not through a management quota. There wasn't any interviews, I had a decent merit so I just had to give the important documents and I got an admission in return instantly.
Faculty
The faculty was very qualified and very helpful and available to assist and clear doubts. Many of the faculty are from the top universities of the state and the country. Some of them are also from the same college as well.
