Remarks

Overall the college has good vibrant atmosphere for undergraduates. It strongly supports more project based practical approach than theory based evaluations. There are industry based projects such as Autonomous cars, drones for final years. Faculty teaching isn't that good, but it's the same for all Tier -2 colleges. It's the best institute for engineering in North Karnataka.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Curriculum was above Average, since the University is autonomous it decides it's own syllabus and Exam structure for students. The curriculum focused more on Project based evaluation than traditional assignment approach which is a good thing. Core subjects had lab exams at semester end.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are good for CSE and ECE branch, but normal for Mech, Civil, EE branches. Average package is around 4 to 6 Lpa. Highest goes upto 15 Lpa for Cse-Ece. There are some good core companies like Applied materials, Robert Bosch visiting for Mech also. Its not the fault of college though, since industry is reluctant to take for these branches. College supports doing internship in 8th SEM as a substitute for course project. It's a very good thing. But college doesn't provide stiped supported internship by itself.

College Events

4

College has plenty of cocirrular events, activities throughout the year. Students themselves organise the events right from 1st year itself. There will be exhibitions for Semester end projects. And many clubs like Robotics, Aerospace are also present. Apart from these Annual fest, and Ieee conferences, hackathons also would be conducted in campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities

For govt seats Fee structure is decided by Karnataka govt. Tution fees is 20k for Aided seats, 50k for Unaided (these are by CET entrance exam). If by comedk which comes under management quota, it's 2lakh per year. Hostel fees is about 30 to 40k yearly on requirement. Mess charges 25k per year. Overall fees is feasible.

Fees and Financial Aid

Loan may be provided by College Campus situatied Syndicate bank. Other than that govt scholarships are also supported by college. Scholarships aren't available to my knowledge. But we can check for external financial assistance.

Campus Life

4.5

College campus is about 50 acre. It has a huge ground, gymkhana hall, indore sports area. Gender ratio is good( almost equal) in most of the core branches. College has strict rules against ragging., To be frank i have never seen any such incident in my 4 years. Culture is good, students are all over from state, even some out of state. There's no political inclination as such in college. Overall it's a good vibrous students atmosphere.

Hostel Facilities

4

I haven't lived in Hostel, but it's good overall. Rooms are spacious. Option for 3-4 sharing, with attached bathrooms as options. There are old and new buildings both. Girls hostel has additional security.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni is good, notably Shrimati Sudha Murthi (Chairperson of Infosys) is an alumni of Electrical department. The college also has a strong International alumni connection. There is also a Alumni network mainted for further future collaboration.

Admission

Admission to this college is obtained via CET or Comedk entrance tests. For Govt seats its through CET, I had got ~2300 state rank in this entrance test and had secured admission through Counseling session conducted by KEA, Karnataka body. Tution Fees is about 20k for Aided, 50k for Unaided per year and about 2 lakh for comedk since it's management quota.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty had some good teachers, but to be honest most were not that good in Theory part, they would rather tell to do project than get strong at theory. This isn't a problem since we can't expect quality teaching in Tier-2 colleges. If the students are good we can learn many things by ourselves and college will help by supporting in projects.

From 7th semester, students are eligible for internships and placements. The placements over here are good but only if you maintain your cgpa. There are various companies that come to college for placements. Placements for cse and ise are pretty good.

Teaching should be changed actually most of the faculty do the ppt reading. I would say that clad training for placements are really good. They put their effort to make us prepared. Timings would be 3hrs for semester end exam and 2hrs for mid examinations.

In the 6th, 7th and 8th sem students can able to attend the campus placement. So many companies will be visiting for campus placement. Around 50-100 companies will be visiting every year. 85% of the students will be getting placements. My plan after getting a degree is to work in an MNC company as a web developer.
