Remarks

Positive: Timetable inherently contains two half days (or at least one) Syllabus isn't a burden and teachers don't pressurise unless extremely necessary Faculty is understanding and caring Negative: Hostellers have no time to go out and visit places Curfew time is way too low Uniforms are expected to be worn Food in the mess and cafeteria is bad Labs are just sufficiently equipped for the given syllabus with no state of the art machines. Experiments are not designed to be thought provoking and the ambience along with condition of components give a bad outlook.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is archaic but still abridged to some extent to allow certain new topics to be taught in a brief manner. Syllabus covered is around 15+ years old but research is vibrant if you collaborate willingly with professors. Course curriculum is comparatively lighter than those offered in other colleges. Exams include 2 periodicals for 50 marks each and 3 quizzes for 10 marks each in a semester. They're easy to score in and aren't all that difficult to cope up with. Coming to labs, they're quipped with moderately old devices and age old experiments but their evaluation pattern consists of 2 lab tests of 50 marks each throughout the semester.

Placement Experience

4

Placement stats: Highest (2020): 52 lakhs p. a. (Atlassian Software) Average (2020): About 6 lakhs p. a. Placement percentage as of Feb 2020: 82% Approx no. of companies visiting the campus: 120-150 Major companies visiting the campus: Microsoft Amazon Atlassian Software Jupiter Cisco Bosch National Instruments Indian Navy SAP Labs Arista Networks Wipro TCS Infosys Honeywell Among many others Internships: College provides internships only from the 7th semester (beginning of 4th Year). However, a student can apply for an internship on his own irrespective of his year of study with required help from his faculty members. The college also has a fully functional placement cell, called CIR (Corporate and Industry Relations). They aid in the training and betterment of a student and also help students look for opportunities. Internship experience and stipend: Some internships include Student Research Fellowship Programme, wherein a student works under a research mentor in any Indian Academy of Science campus. Their stipend comes up to ?12000 for two months. Other internships from college are at Amazon, Cisco and Bosch for relatively minor designations at a stipend of about 4-7k.

College Events

2.5

Our college has no major inter- collegiate cultural fest. However, there are intra-college fests (Kalakriti and Kalanjali to name a few). These cultural fests are held coinciding with significant festivals; on the day of Pongal, etc. The college also has "Aarohan", a fest for school kids, held every year. Technical fests: SLAC (Stay Late and Code) is a flagship event from the programming club at college. It is a 24h hackathon and witnesses the participation of 50+ teams from 12+ colleges every year. Electronika is a flagship event from the Electronics club at college. It is, again, a 24h event but sees limited participation.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The base fee is at 2. 6 lakhs per year, without scholarship and excluding hostel/ transport fee. However, if you belong to Karnataka, you can get a reserved seat with a 50%, 75% or 90% scholarship depending on your AEEE rank. It is slightly expensive as compared to colleges like VIT, which have a bigger, better campus and a more vibrant college life for about the same fee. Fee Structure: Without scholarship- Tuition fee: 2. 6 lakh per year Counselling fee: ?10000 (only during counselling) Transport fee (2020): ?27000 Hostel fee including mess(2020): ?85000

Fees and Financial Aid

The college provides a scheme called Amrita Vidya Education loan scheme in partnership with Dhanalakshmi Bank. I took up an education loan with SBI. These loans have a repayment period of 15 years post graduation and their rate of interest is 7. 5%. To avail this loan, you need to visit your SBI Branch and place a request with your 12th grade markscard, admission certificate and other required documents.

Hostel Facilities

3

Hostel rooms and pretty big and well lit. There are problems like water shortage due to shortage in the entire region. Mess food isn't all that great (sometimes, inedible) but there is a canteen on campus with slightly better food quality. There are no AC rooms, one gym and Indian style toilets only. There are many PGs with food and apartments in the area at reasonable rates (around 3-4k for a month).

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are extremely helpful and help with placement training and personal betterment. Some seniors gladly involve you in their projects and also give their recommendations about you to their research mentors. Certain alumni from Flipkart are also ICPC finalists and winners, so they often visit the campus and host workshops and competitions.

Admission

Admission to this college requires writing it's entrance exam, Amrita Engineering Entrance Exam (AEEE), although they now accept K-CET (Karnataka Common Entrance Test) and JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) scores. Each campus has a reservation for students from its own state; Bengaluru Campus provides reserved seats for students from Karnataka, Coimbatore Campus has provides reserved seats for students from Tamil Nadu and so on. A rank of lesser than 5k can fetch you a seat in Computer Science and Engineering provided you belong to Karnataka.

Faculty

4

The faculty in general are supportive and interested in their subjects. Although some teachers teach better than the rest, a majority of them are well versed with their syllabus and are genuinely helpful. About 75% of the teaching faculty have completed their PhDs and the rest have a minimum of an MTech graduation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
