IIT Patna review

The college has a very good infrastructure and its still growing. It has done well for a new IIT, is recruiting good faculties, providing good facilities to students. So thats my positive remark. But at the a same time it has to try to improve its placements and placement process, improve upon faculties teaching skills etc.

Overall, the course curriculum is well designed, my only suggestion is to shift some courses from 7 th semester to 8 th semester. Exam structure- exams are taken on semester basis. Each semester there will be a Mid semester examination and a End semester examination, and in between there may be quizzes and presentations according to the preference of the course instructor.

Placements and job opportunities in Computer science engineering is really good, packages go upto 30 lpa every year. But the placement in core branches is really poor, very few get placed in core companies, that too with very less package, I myself have been placed at LnT ECC with a package of only 6 lpa.

Every year the students organise two main college fests - Anwesha, the techo cultural management fest and Celesta, the Technical fest. Other than these, the civil engineering students organise their own technical fest called Samnivesha. A cultural fest- Reverberance is also organised during every diwali. Apart from these, all natural holidays are also celebrated

Fee structure has been segregated to various quotas and categories. Normally the fees have been divided in categories according to income levels,but flaws do exist in this system, so it can be expensive to general category students but is feasible for others

The college offers the MCM scholarship for students belonging to economically backward section, this scholarship pays them around 8000 per year or more depending on necessity. SBI offers student loans with reasonable interest rates according to my knowledge

Extracurricular activities include the technical fest Celesta and Techno cultural fest Anwesha and many other fests associated with cultural and sports activities. These fests are of good quality. Necessary Labs are there in every department with adequate equipment and facilities. Sports complex has been newly built, but the teams and training facilities are still a work in progress.

Hostel infrastructure and facilities are better than older IITs according to my opinion. In my 3 and a half years of stay in hostel, i have never faced much difficulty. Facilities include common room with TV, table tennis boards, multigym, badminton courts etc

IIT Patna alumni is connected to their Alma mater with the means of Students Association for Alumni Relations (SAAR). This association invites our seniors for their essential insights and suggestions for life after college and marching on the long walk of success. We also call our seniors sometimes for small favours or personal doubts. They are always apprehensive and helpful

I had to first qualify in JEE MAINS and then in JEE ADVANCED examinations, these are national level entrance examinations. Then I had to choose a college and branch of engineering by the JOSAA counselling process

The faculty members are overall well qualified in their research fields. However, they can still improve on their teaching skills. They need to shift their focus from assignments to more and more field based education. Some of them have field knowledge and experience, which makes their classes interesting.
