Remarks

The college management, in most respects, does listen and respond to complaints in a better way than other colleges. However, a little improvement is still needed.

Entrance Preview

JEE-Mains, 2015- 98. Opted because it was the best available option at that score level, and came with a good 'brand name' in comparison to other colleges near the area.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is dynamic and changes with almost every batch, though the core courses are the same.

Internships Opportunities

The highest stipend is offered by Amazon at around 30k per month. There are a few other companies coming in for internships as well, with the average being between 5 to 10,000 per month.

Placement Experience

4

The main reason for the college's name and reputation is because of the placements that they have. In 2015, over 32 students of the college were placed in HP, with a package of INR 7,00,000. Some of the companies that actually recruited from campus include Amazon, Tata Motors and Google. In fact, despite of the academics and their qualities, top recruiters still come to Chitkara, meaning that a good student can expect to get ample opportunities here.

College Events

4

The college celebrated, apart form a number of days and occasions, two major fests- a technical fest and a cultural fest. Both of these are held on a national level, at quite the large scale, with a huge component of the prizes being in the form of cash.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The average fee for B.E. is around INR 75,000 per semester. The annual bus fee (if required) ranges between INR 18,000 to INR 25,000 per year, depending on the place where it is required from. Generally, this is quite cheap in comparison to the rest of the colleges around the area. Hostel charges (again, only if needed) are around INR 35,000 for a single semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no special scholarships offered by the college as such. However, almost all banks support Chitkara Univeristy's students should they require an education loan.

Campus Life

4

Right from sports competitions to technical societies and all kinds of extracurricular, students can expect to best pursue their interests on the campus. ISTE, IEEE, ASME, Toastmasters and many other international technical societies have their presence on the campus. The general crowd is pretty modern, most of it coming from Chandigarh itself.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel rooms are somewhat average, with moderate facilities, including a cooler in all the rooms. Generally each room is occupied by four students, and there is no shortage of hostel seats as such. For those looking to go for PGs, the best ones are in

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network of Chitkara University, going by the name of CAN, is among the best in the state. These include some of the best professionals in their respective fields working in big names like Amazon, Cisco, HP and many others.

Exam Structure

The exams are held pretty frequently, with every theory subject having 3 sets of internal examinations (the best of two from which is considered) which carry a total weightage of 40% along with a final examination at the end carrying a weightage of 60%. T

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is generally okay, with some better than average teachers. The new recruits, however, do not possess any knowledge whatsoever and are pretty lazy when it comes to teaching in class.

Placement Experience:

Since the first batch of VLSI is yet to be placed I would take example of ECE for reference. Out of 110 students which sat for placements , 91 got placed , median of 13 lakh with avergae of 16 lakh and 61 lakh highest on campus. These are of 24-25 and this year placements are better as even apple visited us after an hiatus of 3 years. In core electronics , Samsung Rnd , TATA electronics , Cadence , Micron etc visited for tech , UKG , PhonePay , Oracle , Accenture etc vist in consulting and finance , Mckinsey , JP Morgan , GoldmanSachs , AmericanExpress visit. After my btech I plan to do a job.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course plan around 7 out of 10 in terms of relevance and depth. I chose this course mainly because it includes core tech subj like DSA, DBMS, OS, AI and cloud, which are useful for jobs in tech field. The presence of lab work and proj based learning also influenced my choice. The curriculum gives a fair base in theory and basic prac skills. It helps in campus place prep and also builds base for higher study like MTech or MS. But real world skill still depends a lot on self study, online course and side proj. Some topics feel updated, but a few subj are still too theory heavy and not linked to real case use. Exams are held twice as mid test and once as end term in each sem. There are also quiz, viva and lab eval. The level is moderate. If you attend class and revise notes, it is manageable. For improve, more live proj, hack event, ind visit and case study should be added. Teach method should shift more to code demo and less slide read
