Divyateja Chepuru's Review On National Institute Of Technology - [NIT], Rourkela

Good thing about this NIT is its infrastructure it's situated in a land of 1100 acres and it has many research development laboratories there by enabling more of research work. One sad thing is its location its situated in a city which is of not much hype

I did appear for JEE mains in 2013 and fortunately, qualified it with a score of 192 out of 360 based on our board score we'd been given a normalized score based on which the ranks are alloted to the candidates i was happened to secure AIR 15246, and as I belong to OBC category that favoured me a bit in securing a better department than that of my rank deserves after counselling, I was alloted a seat in CSE dept here in NIT Rourkela i heard lot about the research work done here and was elated to find a place for me. Moreover, it is close to my native city which will enable me to visit my family atleast once in a month.

NIT Rourkela does stand high for its interest in research and development in every arena no other college in our country has as many departments as we've in NIT Rourkela. Faculty are of world class but self study is of immence importance depending just on the professor won't help you in your academics every faculty here are, mostly, graduated from elite institutes all over the globe most of them are from IITs.

There's not much of hussle in obtaining an internship if you're from top branches like cse, ece, eee or mec companies take students for internships during their pre final year and almost every student gets an intenrship by his last summer in graduation and other departments too get internships but there's no surety that it'll be 100% and the stipend depends on the company that has come. It usually ranges from 10000 50000p.m some of the companies that have visited us this year are MICROSOFT, GOLDMAN SACHS, ACCOLITE, YODLEE, CODENATION, DELL, SONY, DRDO, L&T etc I've got selected for Accolite and I'll be doing my first internship in the coming summer surely, I'll share my internship experience once I'm done with it.

Being an elite institute, companies grab every chance to pick up the students from here as they form the nation's creamy layer so we can be assured of 100% placement opportunities placement packages has been categorized into three groups Normal elow 4 lacs dream(between 4 7.5 lacs) and Super Dream(Above 7.5 lacs) many companies visit us annually and some of them are listed here Microsoft, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Codenation, Accolite, Sap Labs,DRDO, Sony, Dell, Futures First, Texas Instruments, JSW, L&T, Coal India, IBM, TCS etc.

Annually, we celebrate 4 extra vaganza festivals namely Innovision(Tech Fest), NITR Utsav(Spring Fest), ISM(Internation Students Meet) and Multi ethnic festival besides these, there'll be fests within the hostels like Garden Fest, Hall Day and Foundation Day etc during major fests, whopping amounts of money is spent to organise them apart from these there'll be a Celebrity night where a popular celeb is invited to our institute and a Live show is held.

We've the largest hostels with spacious rooms and ample of ventilation two share a room and the food will be a bit of concern if you're not a native of Odisha you'll get hygiene good but the taste you get here is bit of different from what you get at home if you're a non odia but the food is of good quality and we're served with different varieties of curries we've non veg atleast 6 times a week which is a happy thing for the non vegeterians and regarding the fee, you need to pay around 40000rs per semester which includes every fee in it.

Locally we've a SBI bank branch which provides the students with the scholar loan with some interest once you apply for it, the bank people will take care of the fee until you complete your graduation if you perform well, you'll be awarded scholarships based on your percentages i availed IOCL scholarship in my 1st year.

We've SAC(Student Activity Center) inside the campus which encourages the extra curricular interests in the students we've numerous clubs which promote individual interests there's a debating club called Clarion, a automotive club called ASME and a Microsoft Club we've more than 60 clubs as of now in our campus.

Senior students and alumni are of great help especially when you're going to appear for interviews their suggestions are of great importance and their experience has made us learn lot many things they provided us required materials and books when we needed them.
