Remarks
Positive - It's an autonomous college.The routines are set properly and the there is no delay in the publication of results. Negative-Very less no. of teachers and the laboratories and infrastructures should undergo maintenance on a regular basis.
Course Curriculum Overview
Biotechnology actually offers about all the technological developments with living organisms like bioprocessing, fermentation, vaccination, hybrids formation etc. My course is biotechnology which is a vocational course provided in our college,it follows CBCS system for conducting our exam.The course is divided into 6 semesters during which we have to complete one internship in the last year.
Placement Experience
There are several job opportunities given by our college in courses like BCA,Bsc IT,MBA,BBA,B Com, several other Masters subjects. But in my course Biotechnology, there's neither any placements/jobs nor internships provided.
College Events
There are various seminars held at both national and international levels in the subjects like Psychology, physics etc. Various research projects are going on under renowned professors and teachers. Several departmental events are organised on a regular basis like inter school quiz, spreading awareness about certain diseases etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since its a government college fee structure is quite affordable or say reasonable.The fees for the vocational courses are more as compared to the hons courses. My course fees is around INR 8000 per semester.Well excluding exam fees and mid sems fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are scholarships programmes offered to students who are financially not stable enough to pay the fees. Several alumni members also aid in providing stipends to students in need. The scholarships mainly range between 1000/-to 1200/-. Scholarships like post matric scholarship, Maulana Azad National Scholarship, Indira Gandhi scholarship etc.Few scholarship programs are for exclusively single girl child.
Campus Life
Our college has got several achievements in the field of sports.Various students have represented in national games like Commonwealth and Asia cup etc. Extra curricular activities might also include taking part in various events off campus programmes. Labs are not so equipped for experiments. Practicals are seldom held.
Hostel Facilities
Since I live here in Jamshedpur,I have not opted for hostel facilities.The area is huge and the rooms are spacious but the quality of the food is not so good.No mobile phones are allowed in the hostel campus.The girls are not allowed to leave the hostel at any hour except during vacations.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is good and are really helpful in providing scholarships and through other means. The seniors provide us with the previous question papers and help a lot during exams or regarding any Co-curricular activities.
Admission
Admission process is quite simple. Admission forms are available at the online site of Jamshedpur women's college. After few days,several merit lists are out and dates are given for filling up the admission fee. Documents like acknowledgement is taken and submitted at required department.
Faculty
The faculty of the college is not good. Most of the teachers of the department do not take enough classes. There's no initiative of any new ideas from teachers or our co-ordinaters. The faculty in our department is good.
