MES College Nedumkandam, B.Sc, Computer Science

Remarks

I completed my B.Sc. Computer Science from MES College. The college was good and the events held were awesome. I liked the college environment and the good participation of students in every event, because of good motivation from the teachers. I also took part in many events and it was a fun experience for me. I had a good time as a student at MES College.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum is quite good to invoke curiosity in students regarding computer science. The beginning semesters have basic science subjects and beginner-level coding and then the course transitions to the hard-core computer science stuff as Operating System, Algorithms. The end semesters are quite easy and are mostly theoretical, so students can focus on placements. The course is drafted by Mahatma Gandhi University, which provides the college with affiliation also. The examinations are held on a semester basis for B.Sc. i.e, twice a year. The college also holds internal examinations to help students practice and evaluate themselves.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are no scholarships provided by the college directly but students can apply for national merit or state scholarships, district welfare scholarship, scholarships for SC/ST/OBC or state scholarships disbursed by the state government or relevant scholarships students are eligible for. They can, later on, have them attested by college, and fulfill the process to avail them.

Hostel Facilities

4

The college has two women's hostels, maintained well and with good occupancy to accommodate female students of faraway cities. The hostel maintains a strict number of rules and regulations to ensure the proper safety of students and avoid any type of turmoil in hostel among students. The hostel is considered very safe by the female students residing there.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has a Departmental Alumni Association as well as on a college level, which invites the students of MES presently in different corners of the world in events and stays in touch with them, to maintain its alumni network which turns out to be a lot helpful for the college and the students presently enrolled here. Like, at our time many alumni visited us and gave a pretty good speech and advise regarding life and fieldwork to motivate and give us an idea to lead a better future.

Admission

The minimum criteria for taking admission in MES for B.Sc. was acquiring 50% aggregate in 12th, making me eligible at that time to join the institute as a student for B.Sc. Computer Science course. I visited the college with my respective documents and took admission to the respective course I wanted to. It was a few hours process to end with. I also submitted a little portion of the fee to ensure my admission to college.

Faculty

4.5

I pretty much liked the faculty of the college, all teachers are kind, wise, knowledgeable and open to new concepts of technology. They are always engaged in making the students develop a curiosity for how things work and have an interest in programming and developing things. The faculty was a lot supportive and quite helpful and guiding students with new ideas and students who wish to improve.

I choosed this degree for me to pursue higher studies in uk or foreign country to study cosmetics related field. So for that bsc chemistry degree must have But this curriculum doesn't teach something base to that I think so.. For further studies the teachers need improvement to teach certain topics some teachers didn't even prepare to study students and lab safety is not in the lab.Because of the teaching the portions are done in last minutes and often exams are difficult in major subjects so they need to improve their study methods and often approach students nicely..

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is almost best. Curriculum doesn't influenced me in deciding this course. Curriculum should add internships. Currently there is no mandatory internship, if students are interested they can do internship during vacations. As we are learning psychology which need to be practiced in real world settings, curriculum must include real world training to help students understand things more effectively. Currently intervel between exams are non existent. Internal exams, then semester exams, you blink once, next internal exams, followed by semester exams. Syllabus is understandable, can learn if you try. Exams are also manageable. Real world examples and stories can be included in teaching methods, as psychology is related to humans and human interaction, to get better grasp of concepts. Rather than focusing on passing exam, should focus on the concepts and understand them in-depth. There are a lot of theories to study by heart. And there are many repetitive topics that overlap, but in different semesters.

I feel in love with mathematics in plus two time. The coursee are more application based when compared to other. Out college being an autonomous college has good grip to keep up to the level of good education. Overall teaching methods and syllabus are very good. Frequency of exams are troublesome during the last time of year because all the programmes like youth festival annual day etc come together

My course is Bsc Biotechnology. It is a research associated course. Its main scope is in research. But in every industry let it be medical or industrial a biotechnologist is required. I would like more practical knowledge than theory knowledge in this course as it is needed to be implemented in labs hands on experience is essential. Exams are conducted every 6 months as semester. Class tests and model exams are conducted frequently. Assignments, projects, seminar ,etc.. are given every month.

I chose Bsc electronics, it has an attractive curriculum and some of them are influenced me in some way. The facilities are well-known about the curriculum preparing and all. The current curriculum is good but it needs some changes. Include more practicals is one of my suggestion. Teaching methods are good it doesn't need any change. Exams are conducted by Kerala University, so the college can't do anything in main exams but the college will complete all the portions before the exam date it is sure.
