Most Prestigious College of Raichur

I had my B.Sc. Computer Science completed from Laxmi Venkatesh Desai College. The college has a pretty good environment, and the faculty of the college is also quite amazing. My college life as an LVDian was amazing for me, either it is the academics, sports or cultural events. The college was quite good and was re-accredited with grade 'B' by NAAC because of its overall performance. The college always strives to improve and get better.

The syllabus followed in LVD was strictly followed as per the guidelines of Gulbarga University, which provides LVD with its affiliation. The course I did, B.Sc. CS was a semester-based course, university exams were held at the end of every semester, with a total of six semesters. In the first semester, the focus was on overall science basics and mathematics with little computer science and with time the focus shifted to purely Computer Science.

The different scholarships available/ offered by the college for respective eligibility students are - 1. National Loan Scholarship. 2. Government of India Scholarship for Backward, SC & ST students. 3. Special Scholarships to the children of Govt. Servants who die while in service 4. Scholarships and other educational facilities to the children of the political sufferers. 5. Merit Scholarship for the children of Primary to Secondary school teachers. 6. Scholarships to the children/dependents of Service personal. 7. Urdu Academy Scholarships. 8. Post Metric Scholarships. 9. Scholarships for the Physically Handicapped students. 10. Sanchi Honnamma Scholarship for Meritorious Students 11. C.V. Raman Scholarship for Meritorious Students. Students can either enquire related to the scholarship in the office or their concerned faculty.

The college has a large playground for sports like kabaddi, kho-kho, cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, and hockey. The college playground has good tracks for running. Indoor games are also available in the auditorium and college also has an indoor gym for students to maintain their healthy physique and keep ready and fit for championships or sports events. The college also has a well-equipped library which includes a large variety of books, journals, newspapers and reference books needed by students in their course duration. There is also a science laboratory which is upgraded timely for use by the students, so they can experiment without any limitation or low resources.

The college had a pretty good alumni association and yearly holds an alumni meet to increase the enthusiasm of the students. Some famous and notable alumni of the college include Mr. Venkat Rao Nadagouda, the Fishery & animal husbandry minister of Karnataka and Dr. Shivraj Patil who have been the Raichur M.L.A once.

The student intake for B.Sc. Computer Science in Laxmi Venkatesh Desai college is based on first come first serve basis. The minimum percentage criteria for taking admission in LVD is scoring a minimum of 50% in 12th standard with science stream. I had a 72% aggregate with science, so I easily got admission in the college and the process was less time consuming, I just filled out some forms and provided my documents and got admission for B.Sc. Computer Science under LVD.

The faculty of the college was quite good and has a thorough knowledge of the concerned subjects and were quite skilled. They also were quite friendly to us at times and always tried to put enthusiasm of students in coding and developing, to motivate us to explore the technical domain which made us curious.
