College is something that everyone, at least sometime in their life, strives for. It’s the finish line that many cross after running the twelve-year race that is the education system. Go to college, get a job, settle down, have a family. But, sometimes it costs more than it’s worth. And sometimes it’s not the end goal that’s in mind. Here are some pros and cons of getting a college education: Pros: Gain a better education: College is a tool for you to use to further your education. You’re able to learn more about the things you love, and about the things you don’t. College means more classes, which means more information for your brain to soak up. More job opportunities Many jobs require at minimum a college education. And with a diploma behind your belt, that means that more high-paying and interesting jobs are going to be available to you. Employers usually don’t bother with your resume unless you have a college education. New experiences Outside of your hometown, there are countless people for you to meet, and new places to go, and college is a way to do that. As an adult on campus, you will have so much more freedom. Freedom to check out that new coffee shop down the street, or wander around campus at your leisure. It’ll all be new to you, a breath of fresh air in your life. Try new things and see new people. Get outside of your comfort zone/boundaries When you go to college, you’re expected to be independent. You won’t have anyone holding your hand the entire time, instead you will have to do things by yourself. This will test your limits, and while it can be stressful at times, you’ll find that you’re capable of so much more than you expected. Cons: Debt/Student loans It’s common knowledge: college costs money. It’s expensive, and while scholarships help, they only help to ease the future debt. Student loans are an option too, but once you graduate they’ll come knocking on your door. This lack of money that is common among college students leave them turning out their pockets and turning towards their family, friends, and the bank for a way out. Stress School is stressful, and college is going to be even more stressful. You’re more or less on your own. It’s up to you to email professors, to get yourself to class, to figure out how to graduate. Even though you’ll have counselors as resources, having to be independent is still going to stress you out. Jobs don’t require college education There are successful careers that doesn’t require their employees to have a college education, like veterinary technicians, opticians, and dental hygienists. These jobs pay well, and offer you a steady income and way to have a comfortable life. Famous/rich people without college education Think of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Ellen DeGeneres. All three have something in common: lack of a college degree. Many celebrities and entrepreneurs started a semester or two of college, but eventually dropped out without graduating.

Fees and Financial Aid

Student scholarship is an urgent and critical need area . The estimated need is for approximately 2500 scholarships for UG students. Tuition fees at IIT for the current academic year are Rs. 2 lakhs per year (a 122% increase over 2015). The total cost of 1 year study at IIT including mess bills and other incidentals, is about Rs. 3.5 lakhs per year. With the increasing diversity of student population joining IIT Bombay, there is now a need to provide financial support to a much larger number of students. Nearly 50% of the students joining the undergraduate program are now from economically disadvantaged background. Considering the huge need for financial assistance, a large number of deserving students are not provided with the support that they deserve. We would like to ensure that no admitted student is denied an IIT education due to lack of funds. Thanks to the generous contributions of alumni in the US, 427 additional named scholarships have been established.

Campus Life

An extracurricular activity can be almost anything that isn’t required for high school credit or paid employment. These activities will become very important later, such as when you are applying to colleges, because they help you develop your talents, interests, and passions. They can also teach you practical skills like time management. With so many options out there, all students should be able to find an extracurricular that they are interested in and can develop a passion for!

Alumni/Alumna

It is essential that our students are happy with all aspects of their stay. To help us monitor this we ask every student completing a course at Hilderstone College to evaluate their whole experience: the College, the classes and teaching, the social programme, the facilities, the town and their homestay accommodation. Over the last 3 years (2016 - 2018) 97.6% of students said the College was 'good' or 'very good' (based on responses in end-of-course questionnaires).

Admission

Ultimately, different schools are looking for different characteristics, yet many overarching qualities are sought by all. While schools like Harvard use a thorough rubric and rigorous application review process for the 5.2 percent of applicants they accept, instituitions with less competition have more lenient requirements. Regardless of the school, the main characteristics an admissions panel looks for is an impressive academic career, demonstration of extracurricular and leadership interests, quality of written work, and solid recommendations from professionals who understand their potential.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course structure is good of btech but there there is only thing I don't like is that in btech course the subjects in first year are not related to career of students because there is physics, chemistry other irrelevant subjects present in first year but in second year the course become interesting and relevant. Curriculum is good and prepare well for real world applications. The exams comes frequently every month there is a class test but class tests are moderate on the basis of there difficulty level.
