Remarks
Everything has its positive and negative content but in this case, I think the positive does outweigh the negative. The best thing I found in VIT is FFCS and the worst are some of its strict rules and hostel and campus in time. Which is btw not that bad but needs some or more improvement
Course Curriculum Overview
There will be around 2 midterms or short tests in one semester and 1 final exam. The second mid-term will be an open book exam but the question will be a bit tricky compared to the first mid-term. VIT follows FFCS which let student select which subjects they want to study in a particular semester and under which teacher and timing slot they want to study those subjects. Which I find pretty amazing and beneficial to manage your workload.
Placement Experience
Well, Placement is pretty good and I would rate above par as compared to other private engineering colleges in India. Many big companies visit the campus during the placement period namely Amazon, DeShaw, etc. Mass recruiting companies will also be there. Currently, VIT boasts of having 100% placement but I don't know if it is authentic or not. And yes VIT does provide internships to its students based on some CGPA criteria. I am still in the second year so I have no idea about the internship activity.
College Events
There are more than 100 clubs and 50+ chapters operating In vit which in itself speak a load about the kind of events and level at which they are celebrated. VIT hosts two fests in an academic year one GRAVITAS which is a Technical fest and held in the month of October. This fest is crucial for all those Geeks out there. The second fest is RIVERA which is the cultural fest of VIT and it is one of the biggest cultural fests in India. It is held in the month of February and many celebrities come during this fest.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure of VIT varies dramatically from around 3 lakh per annum to more than 6 lakh per annum inclusive of living and tuition fees. Fee depends on the rank secured by the student in the VIT entrance exam and what branch they want during the counseling
Fees and Financial Aid
Well VIT does provide some scholarships to those students who have managed to get under 1000 rank in its entrance exam. The amount of scholarship varies depending upon the rank secured. The maximum scholarship that I know of is around 50k - 60k.
Campus Life
Labs and sports facilities are awesome. Labs in VIT contain all most the equipment necessary for performing and teaching students some basic concepts related to their subject. In sports, it provides all type of indoor game facilities and for an outdoor game, it has more than 4 big grounds and there are 2 swimming pools separately for girls and boys
Hostel Facilities
Hostels in VIT is moderate. Not good, not bad. There are no attached bathrooms and toilets with your room. All the beds are bunker beds so that they can accommodate more number of students in a single room. No of students in a room varies from 1 to 6 depending on the allotted capacity of the room. Facilities are not good enough and cannot be compared to even government colleges. This area seriously needs some improvement.
Alumni/Alumna
Yeah, the seniors are pretty amazing and helpful. If you maintain a good relationship with them it will help you a lot in your four years journey here in VIT. They will teach you a lot about how to deal with different kinds of things and mostly they will help you the most in teaching you what to prepare during the placement period. Vit boasts of being an anti-ragging campus And in my experience, I found it true till now.
Admission
I gave the entrance examination for VIT. The name of the examination is VITEEE and according to the marks scored in the exam, a merit list was prepared, and then counseling for selecting the desired branch is done.
Faculty
Faculties are okayish at best. Not so great, not so bad just like any other colleges in India. Most of the faculties have completed their doctorate but they still don't have any idea on how to make learning things for students or teaching them interesting. Knowledge is nothing if you don't know how to explain things to others and that's the case. Youtube helps a lot by the way. LOL
