Remarks
The college is mostly good except for some tea hers qho treat some students in a negative way. The teachers take student's reponse and feedback personally which kills the students-teacher friendly bond. The college campus is small but good.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course is electrical engineering and here they teach all the basics necessary for an electrical engineer although you should have basic knowledge of the subject. There are total 8 semesters and in each semester we have 5 theory subjects and 3-4 practical subjects. Here 3 unit tests are conducted out of which the best two are selected for the final grading. The two unit tests make up 30 marks out of 100. The next 10 marks are for continuous assessment of the student (behaviour, assignments, etc) and the rest 60 are for the end semester paper.
Placement Experience
For Computer science and electronics and telecommunication students the placement percentage is as high as 95% but for core branch students the percentage falls drastically to about 50%. The college won't provide you with internships but can provide you with official letters required for internships.
College Events
Not as many as the fests in IITB or any other IITs but here quite a few events are organised. Different events like Aaruni (freshers party), Prerna (sports event for the freshers), Happy hours (sports day of the college), Pratishruti (the annual gathering), etc. There are different committees to organise these fests like NSS, SRC (students representative council) and others.
Fee Structure And Facilities
If you are from open category and you belong to a middle class family then this college is not for you. I am from open category and I have to pay Rs. 1,35,000 yearly, out of this Rs. 1,20,000 is the tuition fees and rest is the examination and other fees. For OBC students the tuition fees is half i.e., Rs. 60,000 and for SC/ST the tuition fees is almost zero. The fees is too expensive for open category. Also the fees is increasing by about 10% every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The college offers the TFWS ( tuition fees wavier scheme) scheme which makes the college fees of limited number of students to only Rs. 16,000 yearly. To apply for that you must have the highest grades in your class and your annual income should be below Rs. 6,00,000. They also provide EBC for open category students which gives 50% of the fee back to you. To avail tgis your family income should be lower than Rs. 6,00,000 per annum.
Campus Life
Not to a high extent but the college promotes extracurricular activities. They provide you with incentives for participating in different events and sports and also provide you with medals. Although the college ground is very small for pursuing sports but they own another sports campus around 25kms away from the college. They also provide with transport facility to get there. The labs are well maintained except for some subjects.
Hostel Facilities
It's my third year in the hostel and I think the hostel fee is also too high, it is around Rs. 88,000 for double seated room and Rs. 98,000 for single seated room. Apart from the cleaning service I do not feel the hostel is worth your money. The rooms are too small and the facilities are not up to the mark. They provide you with LAN facilty but it doesn't work for atleast 3 days a week and I you report the issue they say we are working on it but won't resolve the issue for atleast 24 hours. The LAN speed varies through the day it's about 500 KBPS from 6 am - 6 pm and then about 2 MBPS from 6 pm - 6 am and on sundays the speed goes upto 4 MBPS throughout the day.
Alumni/Alumna
The seniors are quite helpful if you are staying in the college hostel, they provide you with subject notes and guide you to not repeat the mistakes they commited. Also they promote the juniors for participating in college activities. The college arranges alumni meets atleast once in a year and they tell you about their stories, their ideas and the reality in the outside world.
Admission
There are two ways you can enter the college either through JEE or MHT-CET. I came through MHT-CET. For admission you simply have to sumit your marks and other documents at the facilitation centre and wait for the results of the CAP rounds. If your marks are above cutoff you are eligible for admission.
Faculty
Most of the faculty members possess Ph.d. level degree and the rest have atleast a Mtech degree. There are quite a few faculty members above the age of 40 who have atleast 15 years of teaching experience and have high subject knowledge. Still there are a few who are not friendly and can hold your subject back until your personal matter with the faculty is solved.
