Remarks
Overall VIT is a good college to be in if you want to focus on your academics and do research work as there are plenty of opportunities. In terms of freedom to students, VIT is quite stringent in its rules. But overall the campus is a safe space and provides the students a good place to learn.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is quite vast for and VIT gives you the option of choosing interdisciplinary subjects as University electives. VIT follows FFCS model and as such, you can choose whatever subject you want to learn, provided you have done the prerequisites. The exam structure includes three exams, two CATs, and one FAT. CATs account for 30% and FAT accounts for 40%. The rest is internal marks through digital assignments and quizzes.
Placement Experience
VIT has an exceptional record in terms of placement. Recently they got a place in the Limca book of records for maximum number of placements of any college in India. VIT provides internships at the start ups that it has incubated and the stipend is based on your performance.
College Events
VIT has over 100 registered clubs and chapters, and they all have hundreds of events every week and is open to all students. The events are technical, non-technical, and also include workshops. VIT has two main annual fests, one being technical named Gravitas and a cultural fest called Riviera.
Fee Structure And Facilities
VITs fees structure is dependent on your VITEE rank and depending on that you will receive discounts on the fees. If you don't have a good rank then it is quite expensive and is mostly affordable by upper-middle-class families or you will have to take a student loan.
Fees and Financial Aid
Chancellor's Universal Higher Education trust offers scholarships to students from low-income families to study at VIT. This is a very good initiative introduced by chancellor G Vishwanathan. Students can also apply for financial aid if required.
Campus Life
VIT has excellent sports facilities, state of the art Labs, and an excellent library. The library and labs are free to use for all students. The sports facilities include a swimming pool, an outdoor stadium, multiple gyms, basketball, volleyball, and football grounds for both men and women. These can be used by paying a fee on a semester basis.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni association of VIT is very active and there is a meet held annually. The alumni also help in funding the startups that are incubated by VIT. They are very helpful to all students. VIT Alumni are people working in extremely well to do companies as well.
Admission
I got in after clearing the entrance exam of VIT, VITEE with a rank of 38,658. Once you clear the exam, you are called for course counseling. After this, they call you according to your ranks for the program you want. Each program has a cut off the rank.
Faculty
Faculty are very good and helpful in every regard. They are well qualified and are internationally and nationally awarded faculties. They also help you do research and review work and gives you a project to work on along with them if you ask for one.
