Remarks
It is situated at a prime location in Bhubaneswar. We share our boundary with airport. So airport is at walking distance. Bustands and railway stations are also very near. Market places, halls, malls everything is quite near. The street food is cheap and tasty. You will fall in love with this place. The only thing that will bother you is college infrastructure.
Course Curriculum Overview
You will study 9 to 10 subjects in each semester. In each semester there is one internal exam of 20 marks, practical of 30marks and external 50 marks. The subjects are mostly applied chemistry, physics and biology. You can easily score good marks there. Some of the subjects are agronomy, soil sc, plant pathology, entomology, statistics, economics, agril extension, plant breeding and genetics etc. You will easily get notes from teachers or books in library or senior notes. In 4th year there is no class or exam. There is only paid internship.
Placement Experience
Not good. Some NGOs like pradaan, seed companies and fertilizer companies come but not even 5 percent of the people get placed. There are special posts of agriculture in banks and state government which you can get by giving exams but they are not enough and their vacancy is reducing day by day whereas the number of students is increasing with the opening of numerous private colleges. You can try for private companies outside the campus.
College Events
You will have the time of your life here. There is annual function, melody, freshers eve, literary function in college as well as in hostels. There is batch picnic every year. You get to go on a north india or South india tour at the end of 2nd year.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Very feasible for a professional course. It is within 50k for free seats and two lacs more if you get a cost sharing seat. If you study in private add more 5 to 6 lacs at least. I don't advice studying agriculture in private colleges apart from soa or centurion.
Fees and Financial Aid
Plenty of scholarships. There is medhabruti scholarship which is 10k per year if your parents annual income is below 6lacs. Prerna scholarship which is 60k per year for sc and st, 40k for obc. There is merit Scholarship also.
Campus Life
Labs are okay and quite average. Infrastructure can be greatly improved. Many basic equipments are not available. You can pursue your choice of sport and go to state or national level. Debate, essay, pottery, rangoli, singing and dancing competitions are organized by literary and academic societies and also by other institutes like press club etc.
Hostel Facilities
Very very good. The rooms and bathrooms are very clean. The food is of good quality and quantity. Since the kitchen is attached to dining hall and is accessible you can check for yourself. There are two heaters in each floor so you can cook yourself at times if you want.
Alumni/Alumna
Very helpful. Alumni meet is organized every year where you can meet the alumni and interact with them. The seniors and super helpful and you can ask them for notes and study tips. They will help you in Every possible way.
Admission
The entrance exam CET gets you admitted various disciplines of Ouat. The entrance exam has 50 questions each from physics, chemistry, biology and aptitude questionsVeterinary is the best discipline followed by agriculture, agriculture engg, horticulture, forestry, fishery and home science.
Faculty
Best really. The college is a bit understaffed but the professors are immensely helpful. Since most of the professors are scientists as well, they have numerous projects under them. They manage that along with our classes. They are highly qualified and very busy too.
